By giving away WH insider info to a reporter on the record the first night you've even half-way got a job. :D

With the failure that is Trump, I hope people don't buy the narrative the Dems and Republicans will try to spin from this presidency.

I predict they will both say "See, you need a politician to be president because that's the only thing that works." But it's not that you need a politician, it's that a non politician can do the job if they're not a narcissistic morron.

Yeah I mean the economy is still rolling along here. I have a feeling part of it (most maybe even) is due to a honeymoon period that will pop, but there are some positives in this. They're just mired in ridiculous, horrible, stupidity.

Another silver lining: people seem far more interested and slightly more educated about policy and government compared to the last 6-12 years where most people couldn't be bothered to know what policies were getting passed. Hopefully that means more attention paid to our representatives and thus more accountability.

Prior to President Trump, the DOW had never been at 20,000. It has set 25+ records since.

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a higher open on Tuesday as a new month of trading kicked off.

Dow futures rose 93 points, putting the 30-stock index ever closer to the elusive 22,000 milestone. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures, meanwhile, rose 5 points and 15.75 points, respectively.

Tuesday is the first trading day of August.

The major indexes posted sharp gains for the month of July. The Dow rose 2.54 percent in the period, marking its best one-month performance since February. Shares of Boeing contributed the lions share of the gains, adding more than 300 points to the index.

The S&P 500 also posted its best monthly gain since February last month, advancing 1.93 percent as all 11 sectors were positive in July. The Nasdaq composite outperformed last month, gaining 3.38 percent.

The three major indexes also notched multiple record highs last month as Wall Street reacted positively to strong quarterly reports from major companies.Seventy-three percent of the S&P 500 companies that had reported as of Friday had topped estimates on both the top and bottom lines, according to data from FactSet.

First: This is the thing I've been told repeatedly from CL to here, when Obama was in office, he would ruin the economy. We wouldn't see it until years later because his policies and actions had long term effects. He gets no credit for the economy and the job market because it wasn't him that created it.... but now after less than a year Trump gets all the credit for the economy? Which is it?

Second: I expect the economy to sore under Trump. All he does will be for the benifits of big business. That doesn't help the average citizen. It goes int the pockets of the wealthy 99% of the time. But now they're happier they are making even more money than before, so they hire more people paying a pittency of the money they benifits from Trump's administration. In essence, this economy boom is fools gold. The average citizen won't feel it. The wealthy will, creating an even bigger wealth gap in the US between the have and the haves nots.

^^^ since you brought up Obama, he was the only president since Hoover to never have GDP above 3% and he had 8 years. No excuse.

Too soon to give Trump credit? Maybe. I just know it took off the day he was elected. Coincidence or consumer confidence ?

If you want to discount Trump for whatever reason, I'm fine with it. I might even agree. I try to be fair. And I try REALLY hard not to blame Obama because he's not president and I hated how he blamed Bush for everything for 8 years. So, if I bring up Obama, it's usually to show hypocrisy of media.

Well, to recover from the worst economic recession since The Great Depression the year he got elected is not the easiest task. That's a pretty valid excuse imo.

The thing I get with the criticism with Obama is that he failed to meet his promises that he made. But what he did do, was lay out a plan and did express that they would not be completed during his term. Such as Obamacare. Not it wasn't perfect, but something had to be done and some groundwork needed to be laid out for something to "change".

Conversely, Trump is trying to do too much all at once, with no plan to support his goals.

The reason why you see hypocrisy in the media is because Trump makes it easy to write a story. He's always talking, he's always saying/doing something socially controversial. When did you ever hear Obama make ANY of these sort of public outbursts?

If Obama didn't get the mainstream media to report on his failing plans and poor economy performance, sure I get that. But that's not what the mainstream media covers. They like drama, they like controversy, and Trump is all of that and more.

^^^ if the media likes drama and controversy so much, why did they ignore the Obama Admin murdering 2 US citizens, one of whom was 16 years old ? I've asked it before, but I'll ask again: imagine if Trump did that. Impeached!!! Obama? Ignored. And I'm not criticizing Obama -- I'm criticizing the one sided media who failed to report on it.

To them, Obama could do no wrong and Trump can do no right. Neither of which are true.

    It's reputation.

As illogical as it sounds, its the same reason a flagrant foul by Metta gets him suspended and one by Curry is not even a flagrant.

So far, Trump has put himself out there with everything he does. Now everything he does is under a microscope.

I agree everything Trump does is magnified and on the front page. 95% self-inflicted. But when Artest runs into the stands and attacks fans, the refs should ignore it? The governments #1 job is to protect its citizens, not kill them without charges, Miranda Rights, due process, and conviction. No way to spin this. The media ignored it by choice.

Definitely not disagreeing that the media chooses what we see.

There is a reason why the media are usually big donors during the election.

Presidents aren't the problem. It is society, people are the problem. Greed and hypocrisy are a problem. Believing b******* is a major problem. Presidents now are just punching bags to blame for those who are too inadequate in running their own useless lives.

I don't know why though. If they want to make money, doesn't Trump and his non-stop chaos drive ratings? Or do they have an agenda above and beyond making money?
