Looks like Darvish is our top target: https://www.fanragsports.com/news/heyman-dodgers-prefer-darvish-price-prohibitive/ Actually, I take back giving up both Calhoun and Alvarez for Darvish. I agree with you that one of them and lottery ticket prospects would be a good deal. Darvish has worryingly looked awful in his last 5 starts though. It's a different story with Gray though; I'd be willing to give up a lot more for him since he's controllable until 2019.
I'm not terribly worried about his last few games given how strenuous it must be to b in trade discussions, but I too would be a little more interested in Gray. I think Yu is better, but I don't like the rental aspect.
I know this just the beginning stages of a negotiation so they have to start high, but I wouldn't give up Verdugo or Buehler for a Darvish rental. Would much rather pursue Gray.
That kid will never forget his first at bat. game winning double against our hated rivals. Kid was poised up there too.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-giants-20170730-story.html How prescient of Alex Wood: “And,” Wood ended the message, “he’s clutch.”
I was cheering like a maniac for this play. Just incredible for the young man. What an at-bat too. Got down 0-2 and was badly behind the 2nd pitch. Fought all the way back and then takes a good pitch outside the opposite way. Beautiful. Good for Farmer, what a moment.
After all this, the Dodgers are going to end up standing pat at the deadline married to Buehler and Verdugo. As always I think it's a mistake.
These trade rumors gives me the Lakers vibe, it seems that teams don't want to help us and are demanding our top prospects to put us off. Meanwhile, players like JD Martinez gets traded for a bunch of peanuts just like Paul George was.
Well if I were another team, I'd do the same honestly. Why do the Dodgers need Verdugo? We've got a platoon of decent players out there. We should be players for big names like Harper. If I were another team, I'd say if you give me Verdugo and a couple low end guys, we're in business. The Dodgers want to have it all and while this season has been magical, I think it's fair other teams ask for the world. Most teams are willing to give up a bit of the future to secure the present and I think we should too honestly. if we leave this deadline without Yu Darvish or Zach Britton, I'll be pretty upset.
