i was really close last year with 28 as my projection. *pats self on back, sadly* tougher this year. i think the kcp pickup changed my mindset a little (prior to that, i would have picked low/mid 20s), but we're still really young, and a brook lopez injury could be particularly devastating. plus, the west got more difficult than last year. however, i do think a few more teams will actively tank, and the lakers certainly won't this time. so...33.
35. Yea sure it's gonna be entertaining. Kinda excited to see how the young guys will play in the upcoming season.
I picked 30-35 if the roster stands as it is. Ingram and Lonzo should challenge for MIP and ROY respectively this year. Luke is a year better now too. Hopefully I'm being modest and those factors translate to more wins. However I do think this squad has 1 more acquisition to make during the season. I can't tell you what it is. I think it's clear we're suddenly competent on the FO department with Rob and Magic. I think we could get in the 36+ win range if we get a meaningful piece mid-season.
I have a feels that Brewer is somehow going to be involved with getting that decent vet backup PG here.
Yup, sizeavle expiring contract. My concern would then be back up SF unless we think Kuz can play that position or maybe even Deng?
I voted the 46 and above. Because I'm a Big Baller. ***and I don't care if I'm wrong*** but if I'm right you can be sure I'll remember lol
I mean I don't want to rely on it necessarily, but f*** it at this stage I'm okay playing Kuzma as our backup SF for now.
35 wins. We have a bunch of guys who've never played with each other or in Luke's system. Out of the young guys, the only five that have actually played together are JC, Nance, BI, Randle and Zubac. Out of those five, I only see Randle and BI starting for us.
With zo running the show you won't need to know any sets, look how quickly UCLA became a powerhouse, look at summer league. I bet you the Lakers are going to surprise a ton of people, including us on our record. Last year we went 10-10 until injuries and our defense got worst every game. This year, of course with no injuries GOD WILLING we can have an even better start and grab that 8th spot. We're making the playoffs.
We absolutely still need a system and sets. What happens when someone like the Spurs throws Kawhi on Ball. Shut down. You won't need to call many set plays but you still need to have some to fall back on when we're in the half court.
Of course we need sets but I'm speaking about learning them right away, and how it won't be a problem with Ball running the show, he even said it himself that it's easy for him. And Jud the coach said we don't even need to run sets because of zo.
I don't see the stress. I think he does OK on defense if coming off the bench against reserve 3s or in selected matchups by Luke against starters. On offense much of the time he can be a mismatch against 3s like BI is a mismatch.
A young team like ours still needs some structure, especially in the western conference. Expecting Zo and the kids to "wing it" and go to the playoffs is way too optimistic. They'll take awhile to learn the system and learn each other, and hopefully make a late-season push for a playoff seed, barring any serious injuries.
I want to throw a question out there - how many wins does this squad get if Lonzo and Ingram get both ROY and MIP?
41, .500 basketball? Last season Antetoukonmpo won MIP by putting up 23/9/5 and Brogdon won ROY with 10/3/4 with the Bucks being 42-40.
