Orlando really put the tank into gear when they started reducing Tobias Harris' minutes. Byron might have to keep starting our 3rd stringers to pull this off.

On the other hand, NY seems to be doing fairly well.

I'll reiterate what I said in the GD thread; Orlando shouldn't be that bad with the pieces they have in that weak East. I think Orlando beats us this week and we'll have a 2 game cushion against Orlando for the 4 spot. We need to creep into that top 3, though. Keep up the tank, boys!!

Next 5 games for Philly: Boston, Cha, Golden State, Indiana, Orlando

Next 5 games for Lakers: Orlando, Cleveland, Denver, Portland, Brooklyn.

Next 5 games for Orlando: Lakers, Chicago, Washington, NY, New Orleans.

Denver has gone 1-9 over their last 10 games. Unfortunately, we get them at home, and I think we have a decent chance at winning that game. The same goes for Brooklyn. Best bet is we go 1-4 over the next 5 and Philly goes 2-5 and we could move up another game while Orlando can potentially win the next 2 out of 5.

Do you think Kobe should retire already and if he does how long do you think it will take for the Lakers to become contenders again?
    Chad Ford
    (1:04 PM)

Only Kobe knows when he's ready to retire. After such an incredible career, I feel like he's earned the right to go out on his own terms -- not ours. As for the Lakers, it's going to take a while. The good news is that with Kobe out, the most likely scenario is that the Lakers will finish with one of the worst 5 records in the NBA keep their first round draft pick. They desperately need to start stockpiling young talent and another top 5 pick in a really good draft + a healthy Julius Randle next season will be a great start. They can always lure elite free agents when the time is right. Add a couple of very good young prospects, and the vets will come. All is not lost, but it's going to be a couple of years.

I think Chad is right on the money with this one; although, most of us know this, it's still sucks losing. Either way, it must be done.

Okafor and Mudiay would obviously be my first two options, in that order. But if we don't luck into a top 2 pick. I think I'd take Towns. I really like Johnson, but don't see him having franchise potential, instead more of a missing piece. I think he can be a great defender, but on this team one wing defender won't be worth a damn. Towns is soft and a risk, but also immense upside. Locking up two franchise cornerstones in the frontcourt would be HUGE for this team going forward.

I really like Russell, better then Mudiay, can not stand PG who shoot badly (ala Rondo), beceause you never know if they will improve (RR is shooting 31% on FT for him DH is a sharpshooter).
But i have a feeling if we do not make a trade know it will be very busy around the draft, beceause we will have 2 1rounders and probably 2 second rounders.

Lets tank Lakers, Lets tank! :p

Time for Sacre to put the team on his shoulders and play some zero ball.

Come on Orlando.... play hard for your new coach!

They actually have a nice young core with Vucevic, Oladipo, Payton and Tobias

We did great. Unfortunately, the Knicks lost in a nail-biter. Utah seems to be playing well today though.

Most important thing is we stayed in 4th and got separation. We went to 13 wins to 16 wins instead of 14 wins to 15 wins.

Lakers lose 103-97 in OT to the Magic in the biggest Tank War of the year. Knew they could do it. BYRON TANK:

Excellent loss tonight! We continue on the tank and one of our biggest tank competitors gets themselves a feel good win let loose from the old coach. Great stuff. Too bad about New York. Man, they suck. They aren't even doing it on purpose.
