How amazing does this sound? The reviews agree with this description, but my palate does not. It's got a lot of Brett funk and sour strawberry, but not like a strawberry you'd eat. It's more like that squishy moldy strawberry you find at the bottom of the palate cause you didn't eat them fast enough. It's still a good sour, but I wanted bourbon, oak, and sweet, but only got funk and vinager berries.
finally bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on this $36 gem. It is an amazing sour, but I was hoping for more wood and leather and vanilla from the barrels. It's there, but not enough, IMO. Delicious. Big vanilla and bourbon flavors, but still balanced out by the very hoppy red ale base. Not worth $23, but damn good.
Tried "Smog City Sabre Toothed Squirrel" last night. A surprising hoppy amber. Was good, it's name made it better.
Delicious sour, the way they're meant to be. Simple, dry, and European. Like a prickly tart Chardonnay. I hate chocolate and orange, but this was really nice. The vanilla made is super interesting.
@Punk-101 I found a hole in the wall/mom and pop owned liquor store near me, they have a really interesting assortment. I will need to come back after finishing the stash at home. Never had a chance to go to the one you told me about in Tustin (?).
Really good. Tastes a lot like consecration. Wtf? How is this so good? Trader Joe's makes an amazing dry pale sour for $8.99.
Oh yuck! It's mead. I thought it was an ale with some honey. Tastes like $29 cough syrup. This is pretty good. The vanilla really mutes the sourness, which is bad.
