    Puts on list to do today. Sounds kind of like the other big 7 footer in this year's draft that wound up going around 10th. Did he get hurt too this year? Not reading anything about him and am spacing on his name. Not the quickest guy getting into the air like Aaron Gordon to the other extreme.

    Surgery to fix a hernia issue. He was in the D-League for a stint after his recovery. I guess they are bringing him along slowly. He's only played 10 games this season, but he had 10 points and 7 rebounds against Denver last night. He played 16+ minutes, which is his current high for the season. Perhaps he is starting to see some playing time.

    That was a quality loss. Sorry I'm in this camp now, but it was a shame we had to beat the Bulls. We gain nothing by winning from here on out, I'd be good with losing almost every game, with only a break here and there to avoid the all time record. Last season I wasn't pro tank, this season I couldn't be more for it. We have a chance to get a real good player here, we need this to start to turn this franchise around.

    Most of us are (unfortunately) in this camp now. We absolutely have to enter full tank mode ASAP. Knicks are better than us right now, so we might be able to end up below them in the standings. I don't think we're catching the Wolves, but Philly... you never know. Especially if Hill has to miss games.

    Okafor looks good against college talent but I'm not sure he will end up being the best player in the draft.

    He has offensive skills, but he looks off-balance when he does his post-moves. It almost looks like he isn't strong enough so he flails around a bit. I haven't watched a ton of film on him but I also noticed he gets a lot of buckets off feeds from teammates.

    Nothing he can't improve upon, I mean he's 18 or 19 and has a ton of time to refine his game. But with Julius Randle for comparison, you could see he was a stud whose game would translate to the NBA. He was polished in college and it showed. I don't see that from Okafor.

    Oh damn, i just watched some more film. He's good.

    He runs the floor extremely well for a big and his short-range jumper is reliable. I can't put my finger on it but I get a Tim Duncan-esque vibe from his style of play. With more raw athleticism.

    I'm still on board for trading the draft pick for a young, proven player. Wouldn't mind a good point guard.

    NO to that trade idea!

    The Lakers rarely get young stars out of the draft but when they do, they do a great job of growing those players! Players that we've picked at 10 or higher since 1980:

    James Worthy, Eddie Jones, Andrew Bynum, Julius Randle, and of course Magic Johnson.

    Trade the player when he's at his highest value, but get the right player in the draft first. If we get that pick we get two cost controlled potential All-Stars for under 8 million dollars. That's value you can't beat, especially in this CBA.

    If you get Randle and another player to build around for the next 7 years you've got an amazing base to work from. Then you have cash to go supplement that squad. If you get the right guy, you've got a potential playoff team in a couple seasons.

    I vaguely remember a draft where the three worst record didn't get into the top 3. I don't see that happening again but we need to be in the top 2 to be sure.

    You can't trade our pick because Phoenix owns it. The only way it will be tradable is when it is set that we have a top 5 pick, and no, the Lakers are not trading that away "for a good point guard".

    It's okay. The Force is strong to tank. We really have no other logical choice but to develop (play) Clarkson as much as possible, tank, and collect more assets (picks)

    I haven't thought that far ahead. Besides, that's not my job. My only reasoning is that I still want to see Kobe win another championship, which is pretty near-sighted, but whatever. Maybe not one young stud, but a couple above-average role players. Say, Terrence Ross and Grieves Vasquez? The only problem with trading the pick (assuming we get it) is that I am not sure too many teams are looking to rebuild right now. So many seem to be looking to win it all, or are trying to become contenders - in the West at least.

    I could not possibly disagree more. Ross and Vasquez for whatever we get is a huge dump on the franchise. Those two are maybe role players at best on more expensive deals and would not in any way get our franchise back to relevance.

    If you trade the pick it's for a player you believe will be able to get us to the Playoffs and/or the Finals themselves within 2-3 years. Ross and Vasquez? That's not going to do it. That's not going to do it any better than Okafor, Johnson, Towns, Mudiay, or Russell will do it, so why make that move?
