The Saints coach got suspended for a year. Based on that standard, Belicheat deserves 2 years. 2 time offender.

The NFL is big business. Things like the Pats do makes for a good storyline and does not affect revenue at all. Funny how there are other accounts showing up suddenly like Brad Johnson's story of scuffed footballs during Tampa's Super Bowl win or Rodgers' bit about him slightly overinflating footballs.

New England will get fines, there will be extra precautions taken for pre-game preps and all that. The story will blow over, not forgotten and become part of NFL lore.

The Grinch will find away to disavow himself from the incident. They'll probably blame one of the equipment managers or something. Of course, no one in that organization will talk unless they get fired or offered a load of cash to do so. The Spygate matter did cost Belichick a cool half a mil...and lost picks.

Honestly the NFL probably loves this. Over-inflated footballs?? That's a MUCH easier scandal than domestic violence or child abuse.

    Can't wait for this campaign:

Agree. Makes for great sports talk leading up to the SB. Might be the most watched Football Inspection prior to the game. Ever. LOL

Seattle on the two yard line with half a minute goes into Least Mode... WTF?

My friend had a theory about it.

He said Seattle didn't want Lynch to give Lynch the ball because if he scores the touchdown then Lynch is probably the MVP. Then you have to pay him and you have to keep using him as the face of the franchise. Russell is younger, has star power, and was given the moment and the opportunity.

It was a political move that killed 'em.

    But besides that:

    1. How do you not call a time out with under 30 seconds to go and the other team on the goal line? Call a timeout and stop the clock!

    2. How do you try to take a knee in the end-zone?

    3. How do you JUMP on that play?

    4. Way to go Seattle for ending on that note.

Ya know...there is the looming Wilson contract so with the salary cap there will be repercussions. Interesting thought. They did offer Lynch a $10 million extension as rumored?

I think they did, but if he wins the Super Bowl MVP does he demand even more money?

I don't know...maybe. Lynch would still the same pain in the rear as he is now. The team, the coaches, management play along with it but for how long? After awhile, the act gets tiresome even if you are a teammate.

Agreed completely and at 30 years old, how much longer does he have to go being this type of player? Look what happened to Steven Jackson in Atlanta.

I think my friend might actually have nailed it with that though because what other reason could you have to NOT give Lynch the ball on the goal line? There's really no other reasonable explanation.

Carroll explained that they were going to run the ball but he saw New England running in what he felt were goal line defenders. He's thinking they stack the box...Lynch gets stuffed...time rolls off the clock then they have problems. It sounds logical. They could have utilized Wilson off the Pistol formation in the same situation like they did on that scoring play against Green Bay. Instead they got cute and it blew up in their faces. No matter how you slice it...makes no sense. The Patriot players and Kraft were shocked at the call.

Sherman mocking Reavis on that touchdown did not sit well with me. Lack of class on his part. Of course, he did not see the ump inadvertently running interference on that play.

Sherman is a POS. Carroll choked, just like he did on 4th and 1 against Texas.

2nd and goal, at the 1. Easy call.

Even if you're thinking "oh that's their goal line team, we might not be able to get in on the ground" it's only 2ND DOWN and you have a time out left. Run the ball, if it doesn't work call the time out.

If you MUST pass... throw the corner fade or the same in-out play that Edleman (with the most obvious concussion I've seen all season) ran on you for a TD. The call is just baffling. There's no reason that stands up to scrutiny for calling that play. You run the ball and you worry about it afterwards. It's one effing yard and you have maybe the best RB in football. Easiest call to make all game and all season long.

Bwuahahahaaa. @gcclaker you would take Carrol to coach your NFL team in a fast second. :call:

It was a crazy call though. As soon as I saw Wilson start to pass I was yelling "No Beast Mode!?!"

If you have 3 chances and can't get a yard, you don't deserve to win. Out of every team in the NFL to get that yard, I'd bet on Seattle. Not because they have a great offense, but because Lynch is that great.

Every coach in the league would love a 2nd and 1 with Lynch. Only Carroll would throw it.

There's no way Carroll and Bevell are thinking about keeping Lynch from being MVP at that point in the game. That's just dumb. They were going to hand it off to Lynch the next play.

If that pass gets completed, everyone is calling Carroll a genious..that's what happens with a risky slant route towards the middle.

If they did want to throw it, why not run a playaction bootleg with a Tight end running a corner route? Either Wilson can run it in himself, pass it to the TE, or throw it out of bounds if nothings there.

Ofcourse, I would have just had the goaline offense in there and hand it off to Lynch three straight times if needed. :D

Someone I know commented that he did not believe Carroll was aware of the pass play. He said to look at his body language after the play or the lip reading of the profanity he uttered. He went to SC so he is familiar with his tendencies watching the games. Carroll from what he surmised normally isn't involved in 1st or 2nd down plays deferring it to his OC. The whole post game presser bit was him taking the bullet for someone else. All this intrigue...

C'mon don't call people (especially me) dumb man. That's unnecessary in a discussion and I honestly don't appreciate it. Especially since I haven't heard a single other half way legit argument against running the ball in.

How is handing it off on the next play any better? What's DUMB is throwing over the middle to a sub-par receiver with one yard to go and one of the best RBs in football in the backfield. THAT is dumb. He said after the game it was a "wasted play". The **** does that even mean? You have 40 seconds to win a Super Bowl and you're WASTING a play? THAT is dumb.

@gcclaker I keep hearing that we should blame the OC, but at that point in the game it's Pete's call. To win the Super Bowl, Pete should be the one calling the play not the OC. Just the same as Belichek would have been the goat of the game if the Seahawks run the ball into the endzone and Belichek doesn't call a timeout and save the clock a little bit. The OC is to blame sure, but it's on Pete to make things happen to win the game and he choked.
