As nice as this is to hear, only makes the pain hurt even more knowing how close we were.

I hear you. Can't blame us for trying and can't blame him taking the money. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone offered him a one-year deal and then after he spoke seriously with us, the Kings decided they didn't want to lose out. It's a bummer, but I'm still on board for now.

Haha I figured this was the case. Was wanting to know the exact terms thinking it had to be a multi year deal and that is certainly was.

Rondo is a great consolation prize. Come on guys we're going to be far more competitive this season!!

Baby jumps! 35-40 wins then 55-60 when PG and LBJ come

What does that have to do with what I said?
I'm referring to their old age.

Rondo is not good. He's had many run-in's with coaches & teammates over the years. He can't shoot, and doesn't play good D anymore despite his rep. Hard pass.

my issue with rondo is that his preferred style of play (and prefers the hell out of it, like "yell at the coach" prefers it) is antithetical to what luke wants to do here.

just don't see how it fits a plan. honestly, dwill fits much better than any other name i've heard (including crawford, waiters, etc.). i don't want him, either, but in terms of fit in the offense...

where's shelvin mack, btw? i like him. vet enough to show the ropes, young enough to be counted on to play. can shoot a little, can defend a little, not a strong floor general, but a capable ballhandler. should be had cheap. i'd try to lock him up cheap for three years, team option on third.

I don't know if the run-ins with teammates was necessary true last year. I forgot which page of this thread but a few people posted a twitter link from players who swore by his willingness to work with guys last year in CHI. I do know that he had some difficulties in the past but this last year in CHI by all accounts wasn't an issue at least from the young player perspectives.

Man the Pacers are stupid right now. I don't know how long Pritchard is going to last. Unless he has a player that he's going to sign right now for big money, there's no reason to do this... Just eat the contract this year and be done with it.

For Waiters, I imagine if we were even in the conversation, we must've offered 1 year/$17 million. Can't blame him at all for taking slightly less per year to secure a long term deal.

I guess we're getting Rondo then. Which is fine. I mean it's not fine, but like always I'll convince myself that it is.

Initial disappointment, followed by being brainwashed by the Lakers talking heads and LB optimists, followed by gradually hyping myself up as the season approaches, followed by gradual disappointment and then acceptance as the season progresses.

Rondo?! Why would we want that non-shooting malcontent when we just got a franchise PG?! I think he's unnecessary and a terrible fit ... Oh, free agent market is drying up. I guess we need a back-up PG. Maybe he'll be all right.

Wow, Pelinka is really talking up Rondo. He has a good point. Dude used to be an all star and was a few games away from taking down the #1 seed last year. He could actually be exactly what we need! A tough veteran mentor to command the floor when Lonzo's out. He might even have a career resurgence and reach all star levels again! We might even be in the playoff hunt!

Huh, Rondo's doing all right but nothing special. Maybe he just needs some time to learn Luke's system.

Wow, I can't believe he's still butting heads in the locker room. Maybe once he calms down he'll start playing better.

Nope. Still can't shoot and we don't need his facilitating. At least he's gone this summer. Let's just give him a bunch of DNP-CD's and bring in a D-Leaguer to play back-up PG so we can at least build towards the future.

aside from mack, ian clark is still out there, right? luke should know him and he knows the system. still like sefalosha, too. i like all of these more than the names i've been hearing. we already let my precious ppat go help convince george to stay in okc, don't let me down again!

i'm not sure i see a lot of 100% doomers. maybe kb24, but i think that's been his thing forever, right?

i think there's a paul george hangover that might drag throughout the season for some of us. i'll get on board when the real thing starts. for now, the squirrel is unimpressed.

Perpetual failure? Nope, but the possibility of another 5 years like the previous 5? Yes.

i never thought the waiters thing made much sense; even less than hill. i had hoped for hill because the pg market was a buyers' market.

i think it's good that waiters stays in miami. his conditioning was a problem before miami, and i think he needs that organization's discipline.
