@Weezy i'm with you man. We were just SOOOO down on D'Angelo and HAD to get rid of him right now so that we can go and get "high character" guys like Dion Waiters and Rajon Rondo?

This FO is starting to remind me of O'le Jimmy Boy and Mitch....no idea what they're doing.

We didn't just get rid of Russell because of character issues. We traded him for 3 reasons: 1) Get an All-Star caliber center in return 2) Get rid of Moz contract 3) Create more cap room for 2018.

Let's not also forget that we tried to attach unprotected 1st round picks to moz or deng trades first before including Russell but no team would bite.

Agree. Nail down Waiters, and I am happy. Haven't been high on Lonzo but he needs some pressure taken off of him. Expectations are already sky-high...

Guys on 1 year deals (and possibly dropped next summer) compared to DLo, who if retained would have been part of the core. I'm not exactly seeing the similarities here.

But looking at the bigger picture...how do you expect to dump a bad contract without attaching an asset to it? If DLo was the cost to correct O'le Jimmy Boy and Mitch's ridiculousness then I count that as a win.

Edit: Just wasted a post...battletested said it better

BTW, I'm thinking the well is drying up around the league and Waiters is using his Pelinka connect to leverage Riles into a new deal.

rondo is fine with coming to LA, accepting a bench role, and mentoring ball? i don't buy it

and he's the last guy i want to mentor ball. guy can't shoot, has fallen off on D, and has always been a problem in the locker room

Naw, me hoping for mgmt to try to be competitive with 1 max guy is a better plan than waiting to get 2 at the same time, and from the looks of all these complaints, magic/rob dont seem all that smart to me even if they are 1 yr deals

If be surprised if Waiters settled for that, but whatever. One year deals.

For what it's worth I'm not crazy about Waiters. Waiters is very Clarkson-y but has better shooting numbers. He wouldn't be the worst signing but boy you couldn't say "rental" any more than the team we're about to get.

This is the reason I'm ok with getting Rondo if we can't get anyone else.

The west has gotten way too strong now. We're not winning many games IMO. Therefore, this season isn't about much more than developing the young players. If that's the case, Rondo might be our best option there. And for just one season, I'm ok with that.... Not thrilled, but ok

A tiny bit relieved. Vince Carter now more available I bet.
