What? You guys don't believe that we have 12 future All Stars on the team that not only can shoot, but have high BBall IQ, team first attitude, and play lock down D???? He's just speaking it into existence...
Yes, but it opens him up to criticism. I'll take the general positives that come with Magic (who we should be comparing to Jim, not Mitch) along with his faults. We as fans just have to take what he says with a grain of salt and realize who is telling the story.
Unless he doesn't like you.... Then he'll trash you to the media. Ask Westhead, DLO, Jim Buss, etc. Don't come to camp fat, or you're a goner. (Deng, I'm talking to you)
I believe Magic believes what he said there and that's exciting to me. They really do seem extraordinarily high on Kuzma and Hart and their defensive capabilities sounds like played a big part, along with Kuzma's overall versatility and skills. Twice now references to "flip flops" and "OK we got the guy we "wanted" at 27". He took opposing team's best wing / forward and Hart did the same along with being a big leader on NCAA championship team. FA's sitting across the table from the energy emanating from the trio of Magic, Luke and Rob ..... no two ways about it are going to be listening intently as the plan the Lakers have for them is spelled out in positive detail. Big ups given too to Ingram and gave him some "face of the franchise" gloss in addition to what Lonzo got, and he seems genuinely excited and happy with what Julius is showing him this off season. If he has to be gone at the deadline next year so be it, but in the meantime he can certainly step up and give them reasons to keep him long term. Either way am so happy we get to see him after his physical transformation and conditioning and further skills work.
I understand what your getting at, but when has he trashed DLO? Because in all the interviews Magic has either said he think DLO can be an all-star or has said he's a great scorer but we needed a pass first player who will make his teammates better. Now if that last part is trashing DLO, then okay.... but I don't think it is.
"What I need is a leader, someone who can make their teammates better" "who people want to play with" I take that as a slight
The first steps are getting hard workers and players buying in. If we really have that we are way ahead of the last few years. Going to be incredible to watch if we actually play as hard or harder than the other teams. Those half effort show boat games are painful. Magic's vision and enthusiasm are very exciting.
1)We will have to play a lot better next season to give the 2018 plan a chance , Ball and especially Ingram as a 2nd year player can't dissapoint 2) We signed 1 superstar in FA ( Shaq) in the latest 20+ years ... the 2nd most important one was Ron Artest ... I will buy Magic enthusiasm when he delivers We basically did little to nothing from summer 2013 to 2017 to improve our on court situation and "attractiveness" , hopefully the 2017-2018 season will be slighty different
Its a real short video and sort of old (late June) but that I think is really important to check out. Because so many fans reacted so strongly against Magic setting so many high expectations for Lonzo and the process of building this team going forward "I'm not crazy"
