Love Byron as a laker but he sucks as a coach. Same way with Magic and his NBA "analysts' positions.

He's as bad as the Mike's.

The only thing I love about what Byron is doing is instilling a culture of fighting to the last whistle. We kept trying to come back against the Spurs, but we just don't have that much talent frankly. We're not as good. I loved that we kept fighting though. We need a coach like that for now. When we're ready to win again, we need a coach with more feel for the Xs and Os.

Personally, I would have went with George Karl and or Quinn Snyder. No, Byron was never my first choice...and this season proves why.

I still don't get it why Ed Davis is now back on the bench?! Any words on that one?

Because we'll tank better with him on the bench and Sacre starting.

Maybe trying to get someone to bite on Sacre for a 2nd rounder?

    I'd say he's worth a 2nd rounder.

I don't think so. If a team is willing to give up a 2nd round pick they can get someone better than Sacre. Just my opinion.

Maybe. I like Sacre though. He is a perfect 3rd string Center and is capable of providing a solid 20 minutes when injuries call for it. Reminds me a bit of Mbenga in terms of surprising production offensively. Defensively Mbenga was a better shot blocker for sure, but Sacre isn't afraid to use his fouls.

You've got to have minimum salary players on your team who do the dirty work and don't get down when they don't play. I don't see finding better options for C than Sacre.

Serious question, is that the worst starting 5 the LA Lakers have ever put out on the court?

As for Sacre, yeah, I don't see finding a better 3rd string C for that price, every team needs that 14th/15th body that can actually give you decent minutes when called upon. I see no benefit in trading him, he's got a good attitude and he knows his role.

^ For the minuscule amount of Cap Space we'd get from trading him for a 2nd Rounder? Or as a throw in to another trade maybe to let go of Lin?

I don't know really. I just don't know what reason we could have for starting him over Davis or Black at this point.

Oh I completely missed that's what the original comment about Sacre was, why he was starting. I thought we were just discussing his value. Why he's starting, I think Byron is just throwing s*** at the wall, tanking, knows his job is safe, so eff it. I guess they could be trying to trade him, but again, I don't see getting anyone better than Sacre, for Sacre. But sure, maybe as a throw-In with Lin, who knows.

Its not the fact or question whether or not there is a better 3rd string center out there. I just think a 2nd Round pick now-a-days could potentially get you more than a quality 3rd string player like Sacre. Sorry if it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse with my argument. It's a slow painful season we hardcore Lakers fans are watching.

I do agree with everyone though that Sacre is amongst the better or best 3rd string big men in the league. won't argue that point.

LOL!. Byron throws sh** on the wall! Haha...the problem about that is even when he wasn't tanking he was throwing sh** on the wall. Funny analogy, though.

With the game in Milwaukee tonight I guess some reporters got to Byron to check with him on his relationship with Jason Kidd when he coached him and to this day. Gotta love Byron in that you do indeed know where you stand with him as a player and as a fellow person. He seems to be a really straight shooter. Whether that's always the best tact or not. I kind of like it. No BS.

Byron Scott on Jason Kidd: ‘He was kind of known as being an a–hole’

Byron Scott coached Jason Kidd with the New Jersey Nets for three-and-a-half seasons from 2000-2004, and helped guide the team to two trips to the NBA Finals during that relatively short span.

But when Scott was fired midseason in January of 2004, one of the reported reasons was a lack of support from Kidd, who at the time was the team’s most prominent star player.

Even though that was a decade ago, the relationship remains cordial, at best. With the Lakers in Milwaukee to take on the Bucks on Wednesday, Scott was open and honest about the way things currently stand.

From Bill Oram of the Orange County Register:

Reporter asks Byron Scott about coaching JKidd, who was known as a “unique personality.” Scott: “He was kind of known as being an a–hole.”

Asked about his relationship with Jason Kidd, Byron Scott said, “Cordial. And that’s about as good as it’s gonna get, too.“

On reports Kidd conspired to get [Scott] fired: “That’s all I’ve heard. Now did he actually go and talk to Rod Thorn & those guys? I don’t know.”

A lot goes into the particulars of an organizational decision to fire a head coach, and how the players are responding under him can certainly play an important role. In Scott’s case with the Nets, even after two seasons that ended with trips to the Finals, a slow 22-20 start in year four (with some reported locker room strife thrown into the mix) was enough for the change to be made.

Kidd’s personality can indeed be prickly at times, and after a solid finish to the season in his first year as head coach with the Nets, that was the reported reason he finds himself in Milwaukee today. Scott merely confirmed that, in his eyes, not much has changed over the last 10 years.

Yea, Kidd does seem like an a******. I have to give him props on his coaching though. He's doing a good job in Milwaukee.
