Griffin is so leaving. And I can see DeAndre going elsewhere now too.

This is what is really starting to irritate me. These stars are getting traded for spare parts, yet we have to give up the moon just to get into a discussion phase for them. It's complete BS. Take off the Lakers glasses, put down the kool-aid, what have you, our young guys we are offering are not garbage and are definitely better than Dekker/Late 1st + role players.

Did the new CBA say don't trade anyone to the Lakers unless they give up everything to get him?

Jerry West will probably encourage them to trade Jordan too. Poor Jerry. The Clippers gonna Clip.

Hou was going to get Cp3 no matter what, Clipps lucked out by getting anything at all, better than what dbags like KD or James did for their old respective team

Butler got traded for essentially 2 lotto picks, if you gona complain would have been ok if mgmt. traded #2 for PG then? Also Cp360 didn't have to opt-in, Clipps getting anything at all is a blessing, Cp3 was going to sign with Hou anyways

In all seriousness, I can sort of see what Jerry West's plan is. I don't think the Clips are going full rebuild but will try to rebuild around Griffin and DeAndre. I think they saw that Griffin was likely leaving if Paul stayed....so if anything, this actually helps their chances keep Blake.

    He sees that:
    - Paul was likely leaving, try to get some assets for him
    - Redick is likely leaving, he gets Lou Williams to be Redick's replacement as a perimeter spot up shooter.
    - He gets Sam Dekker to be a young prospect who can start at SF. They haven't had a starting calibre SF for several years now.
    - Beverly is a defensive minded PG, but likely better suited for coming off the bench.
    - Maybe someone can check this for me, but would they have cap space to sign Kyle Lowry/Jeff Teague/Jrue Holiday in free agency to replace Paul?

Their lineup come opening night would likely be:

    Lowry/Beverly
    Williams
    Dekker
    Griffin
    DeAndre

    You can't be serious.

Chris Paul is great, but he's 32 years old and injury prone.

No way you deal Lonzo in that situation.

no, they take almost the same amt of $ they sent out with Cp3, only way they have cap is if they renounce Griffin rights

I was just listening to Petros the other day talking about how the Clippers shouldn't blow things up -- they should just move on from DJ and find a replacement. Instead, it looks like they are doing the former as losing CP3 almost certainly means Griffin (and DJ) will follow.

This is equally as hysterical given the comments Ballmer made about not caring about the Lakers, implying they have a larger agenda, which seems way more out of sight now.

In other news, Lonzo is now the best PG in LA and it is time for him to run this town!

Well, no one wants us to return to glory.

I know we are all die-hards who were loyal to the team in the post-Showtime, pre-Kobe/Shaq era, but think about it from the rest of the nation's perspective for just a moment... More than ever, being right on the cusp of a resurgence, teams are resisting and refusing to send any sort of talent our way. The last thing they want to see is Purple and Gold all over their TV.

So none of this surprises me. Yes, it is a business, but I think it is naive to think that it's only about trading assets... if there is a potential trade deal involving Team A and either the Lakers or Team B, then ceteris paribus, of course Team A would involve Team B.

We have been dormant for several years now, and people would like to keep it that way.

What was the point of hiring Jerry then? He wasn't even in the meeting to try and keep Chris with the team? Clips gonna Clip.

Why would Ryan West go there to fight with other sharks in the league knowing the Clippers are no longer even a current "hot topic". Can you say rebuild. Oh but wait, Cleveland wants him per Chauncy, who's not sure himself he wants Cleveland.

Needless to say feeling better about Ryan remaining. The Lakers future is looking UP conversely.

I don't think they always hated each other.

I do think Griffin and Paul got sick of each other though. If I were the Clippers though, I'd probably let Griffin walk too. Let him sign in Boston or Miami or something and just go full rebuild. Trade away bums like Rivers and Rivers and find some value for Jamaal Crawford.

I wouldn't, better to be treadmill then suck for yrs for "the process" for a owner who just paid 2bill. I rather keep my team competitive, its to early in Balmers ownership to suck
