Trailer looks great, but I think Matthew McConaughey seems miscast? Or the man in black should I say.
Thought I was the only one seeing that. Never seen him as a villain, can't take him seriously as one, almost laughed every time he spoke. I like him a lot, but he looks and sounds entirely wrong for this role.
THANK YOU. I like him as an actor. He's super talented, but he's just had too many roles NOT playing the villain to where I can't see him as the bad guy. Maybe he'll pull it off. I have been wrong before. If he is going to be a villain, I almost feel there will have to be a comedic side to the villain for McConaughey to make it feel believable.
Sequels tend to go downhill...then it's thud, rock bottom. Forgettable movie. Soap opera-ish. Great sonics and video, Beckinsdale... but Grade: D.
I watched Moonlight last night. I went in with high expectations because it won the best picture Oscar and it's hard not to in that case, and this movie exceeded them. Beautifully shot, exceptionally acted, had me constantly gripped and glued to the screen, and so moving and raw/real. Honestly after only one viewing I'd say it's one of the best overall quality films I've ever seen.
^^^ my sister said it was great and yes, it won best movie. But "only" a 7.5 on IMDB, which is pretty low for a Movie of the Year. For the most part, I'll watch anything in the 7s and above on IMDB, so I'll check it out too.
Looking over the user reviews, a lot of the low ones are hate for the sake of hate. A 1 out of 10 star review for this movie is laughable. The reviews I looked through were mostly people that clearly didn't get the movie, one saying "a film about nothing". People without an attention span of any note shouldn't judge a movie that's meant to be thought provoking and a piece of art. Some movies that get high praise and win a lot of awards can be pretentious, but this wasn't one of those, I've never seen a movie quite like it. I also imagine its subject matter gets it a few negative reviews just because.
If you want a thought provoking horror film that will leave you thinking at the end, I highly recommend - The Wailing It is available on Netflix right now and has been for several months. It's not a terrible scary movie but its a very well made movie created to make the viewer think about good and evil.
XXX: Return Of Xander Cage Fun little action flick... Ex NFL TE Tony Gonzalez, not too shabby but his role did not demand much. Grade: B The Great Wall No slow parts...good creatures movie overall. Jing Tian (sigh...). Wussy Emperor character. Grade: C+
I refuse to watch Great Wall, no matter how interesting the movie looks for me, because generic white guy.
If you're a Tupac fan you'll enjoy All Eyez On Me. I didn't learn anything new, but was entertained. They renamed Haitian Jack in the movie for some reason.
So Baby Driver is sitting at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes with 75 reviews already in. What's more impressive is the average rating is 8.4. That's really high.
It looks very good, and it's from one of my favorite directors. After a really bad June as far as movies go, this looks to be a great start to lead into July, which looks much better with Spider-Man and Planet of the Apes, plus a lot of smaller movies that look decent.
Transformers wasn't too bad if you went into it with your brain off and enjoy big robots fighting. Story was bad, pacing was off and awful comedic timing but at least the female lead is easy on the eyes. Transformers belongs in the same category as Fast and Furious. A franchise that will last 20 movies where the story is always pretty bad but the action is top notch.
