Probably a promise that the teams wouldn't take Lonzo so that he falls to 3 or 4.

We wanted the cake and to eat it too.

I mean that's what Boston just did. No harm in seeing if we can too.

Ball was always our guy. It was smart to at least try and see if we could pick him and get another asset too.

-Wish Sac would bite on the #2 for their #5 & #10.

-Draft Dennis Smith Jr at #5(people are really sleeping on him).

-Package #10, #28, Clarkson, etc to Indy for George.

I liked the smokescreens by the Lakers. They added some originality to them that could have made sense to the simple mind reading it. Which we all know about GM's in the NBA aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Saying Ball was a little winded in his first work out basically says something that isn't positive by not saying he stinks. It's enough of a diversion to lower value and then let the scenarios broaden a little. Nice try.

Lakers will have Ball on Thursday and hopefully PG says something to the Pacer brass about wanting to sign an extension only in LA. And this thing can end with Ball and PG going into free agency. If that happens, the NBA will start to tighten their holes and know that the Laker train has started and get ready in a few years when we start to challenge the Warriors and LEBRAWWWWWWWn.

I'd take Smith or Fox at 5 and Collins at 10. I'd ship something else for George.

    John Ireland on ESPN710:

Last week Boston called the Lakers and said, "we're drafting Lonzo if you don't trade with us."

Minutes later it was leaked that Fultz "murdered" his workout.

What I like about all this the most is it shows that although they are new, Magic and Rob know how to play the game and aren't going to get worked.

If we don't hear anything about Lonzo talking to/working out with another team by tomorrow, I think that means we've promised him. Too risky for him to not at least talk to other teams and share medical records unless he knows he's going #2

I must admit that I really like the idea of trading down in the draft. I think it gives us more versatility and if the Pacers are wanting to move George quickly, then let's grab him. Ideally, it would be great to keep both the #5 and #10 (should we trade with the Kings), but unless Mitch passed his "Magic Wand" to Pelinka, I'd be willing to part with the #10 and #28 for George. He's that good.

Mouthpiece speaks... Lots of interesting things in here.

In case you don't want to click on Mouthpiece's article here's what he says re: the draft-

    1. The Lakers are heavily leaning Lonzo Ball although Josh Jackson is still in the mix.
    2. Pelinka is the one who was so adamant on looking at every possible angle.
    3. They are intrigued by his star power and how well he fits Walton's offense.
    4. They came into this week, after seeing Fultz up close, thinking that Lonzo might be better than him. Coupled with Boston's move down from #1, what does that say about Fultz?
    5. He did not mention anything about trading down, but did mention that the Lakers are looking to flip Clarkson in order to shed his salary. He could be moved for George (like many of us have said) or he could be used to get another 1st round pick this year.

Sounds to me like JC is the one young piece thats being shopped for any deal that gets us George or another first round pick.
