I'd do the 5 and 10 for 2, but I feel like we need a PG and the top 3 will (most likely) be gone in first 4 picks. But if we can get Fox at 5 and the 10, I'm all for it.

I like Jackson a lot actually. I was here defending him for a while because people had really soured on his jumper. He brings a lot to the table, he just has some serious flags that don't seem to mesh well with our team and our needs. We need shooting desperately. I would be fine with him if we took him because I trust our FO, but I personally think Ball is still the best option.

I'm curious why you want another big though. We've got so many as it is. I think we need a wing more than PF.

As mentioned before, hopefully he comes off the talk show circuit (including the time taken to film all these spots) .... long enough to be able to kill it in the 2nd workout. That long shoe release marketing video, the even longer spot in the shoe store, this, Kimmel all since end of his UCLA season and all going on while he's prepping for the Lakers workouts.

Dennis Smith will be outside top 5. He and Ntilikina aren't bad consolation prizes if we gain additional assets.

I watched Motley in several games throughout the season last year with Baylor. The kid is athletic, crashes the boards, and has a lot of raw talent. Conversely, he has holes in his game that need to be polished. That being said, I'm not sure we are looking at him as closely as he is considered more of a second-rounder. If he manages to slip past so many teams, I see him developing nicely on the South Bay Lakers.

All in all, I am a huge fan of big men who can run the court as being mobile is a must in the league today. But do we grab him with the 28th pick? Likely not.

    Same.

I've done a ton of digging and listening to podcasts and articles from well respected people on my own time and its tough. Whatever happens I would love to hear our FO's thought process about each person - Fox, Jackson, and Ball and what they did or didn't like about the other two that weren't our pick just to know their thought process. We'll likely never get this but its fascinating.

One thing is for sure, this isn't as easy as it was last year. Where we for sure were all saying we'll take whoever is left Ingram or Simmons and most of us wanted Ingram because the fit would be better. This year is certainly tougher.

Woj has no special insight in this case though, and it's happened before.

    What about 2 for 5 and 34?
Or Phoenix taking 2 for 4/32? We've done well with late first, early second round picks.

Question. So Fultz was the consensus #1 before the college season even started right? I'm wondering, was there anyone who most of the experts/mock drafts felt was #2 before the season?

Huh? Woj always has special insight into everything lol

Hell no to either of those trades. A second rounder is not worth losing the power to pick our favorite prospect (other than Fultz)

i have a lot more faith in the FO than i did before

but i really think they'd be making a big mistake by taking jackson #2. would you rather have a guy who can help transform the entire offense? or a guy who can play defense?

one guy isn't going to make this team better on D. ball is the guy this team needs right now, and for the future

Not really. Ball, Tatum, and Jackson were all in the mix at #2.

    Not Lakers Related, but.....

Just looking at the latest mock draft on Draftexpress.com that was last update on June 13, 2017 and damn if Portland can pull off those picks they easily win the draft for best value and overall talent IMO.

    15th - OG Anunoby (2 way player)
20th - Harry Giles (If he can stay healthy - that's a steal)
26th - Semi Ojeleye (That's my guy I want and another good 2 way player)

This doesn't mean this is for sure going to happen but that's a great haul in a deep draft for the 1st Round.

Except that he doesn't unless they explicitly said it. Woj may know, but the Twitter quote that it "makes sense" and is "way too much" is actually irrelevant because...the history of finding someone stupid enough to trade down and still pick your guy and get better value is a long and storied one in the NBA.

Tough for me to really spend a lot of time debating because I'm so sure we're going to end up picking Ball.

Jackson isn't regarded as possibly the #2 guy because he's a good defender - he is that. But he's also a versatile offensive player.

sure. but ball is clearly the superior offensive player whereas jackson needs to make vast improvements to his shot

why bother with a SG who will take a while to develop a decent shot when ball is right there? again, it goes back to needing guys who can make an immediate impact. i don't see jackson making an immediate impact
