i appreciate what real's doing, but i don't think we can just throw out what all the scouts have said. jackson's an athlete with size and a crazy motor, and he's more skilled than he's being given credit for here, imo.

Mason is older than: Tyler Ennis, Julius Randle, zubac, Ingram, and Russell. He was a good college player, but there are lots of reasons he's not being hyped. Not just his height.

That's not my intention and I'm not saying he's a bad athlete at all. I've said repeatedly that he's a terrific leaper and that absolutely stands out on film. I said he has a slim frame and is physically not strong enough to handle PFs. I'm not sure that's really news at all, but it's worth mentioning because it's the position he played in college. I'm watching his game against Baylor right now. More info coming.

been watching some of jackson's highlights

i'd be pretty bummed out if we drafted him over ball. he's gonna be a good player for sure, but he's just not the kind of player the lakers need at this point. jackson doesn't seem like the guy who can step in and make an immediate difference whereas ball definitely seems like he can make an immediate impact

if they want to finally start focusing on D, taking jackson at #2 isn't the way to go about that. sign some defensive specialists during free agency or acquire them thru trades. don't use the #2 pick in the draft to address that need

Another thing I think is overlooked is that Jackson was a 20 y/o Freshman.

    Kansas vs. Baylor

    - This is my favorite game of Jackson's of the three I posted. He was beaten up inside, but never really stopped working for it. He was game for the challenge. He showed some great, active hands on the perimeter which I wish he'd shown inside a little more often. He again was a willing rim protector using that vertical leap to change or block shots. Motley is a lot bigger and stronger than him, but Jackson continued to fight throughout the game making things difficult at the end.

    - Jackson continues to show no aptitude for shooting. He struggles all game long to find a stroke, but of course when the clock is winding down he finds a way to make the shot usually. Still, his lack of a jumper, not just in execution but willingness to take them, is a huge red flag.

    - I thought his rebounding suffered in this game, but it was a really tough matchup for him. Motley has probably 2-3" on him and 30 pounds or so and it showed. Still, Jackson did his best in there to mix it up. He was constantly moving and adjusting and making the offense guess or make a tough pass.

    - Motley had a tremendous game. He was big inside and really punished Kansas for trying to go small. He ran the floor extremely well and used that athleticism to get Baylor easy shots and second chance opportunities. He was beating Kansas's Center inside let alone Jackson. It was a good showing even though it's still clear he's not the brightest player. Hard worker though and might be able to stick around in the league in the right situation.

    - Frank Mason III really struggled in the first half with the length and size of Baylor. He wasn't able to get into the paint for clean looks as easily. In the second half though he showed more of what I love: that feisty strength and ability to breakdown offenses with a lightning first step. He was huge for Kansas down the stretch.

    - Because of the difficult match-up Jackson didn't have many opportunities to grab the ball and push the break, but he continued to show excellent passing ability for his size. He may not be Lonzo Ball or Markelle Fultz, but I think most people will be pleasantly surprised by his passing ability in the pros. He has one-handed bounce passes with either hand and can get it through traffic too.

One thing is clear. Rob is not mailing in this draft. The man is putting in work.

OK had to go looking for youtube on Frank Mason III. Yeah you have to love the way he plays the game.

[IMG] Marcelo would like to have had that much athleticism and / or strength.
