If we want Iggy, we can pay him this summer. Just saying...

But yes, Jackson would slot in as the SG of this team. We'd have very, very poor spacing. Russell is our best shooter and he's not even great percentage-wise. Ingram was bad. Randle is bad. Jackson hits less than 40% from the college line, let alone the NBA line. Obviously Mozgov, Zubac, and Black can't shoot.

Jackson would help defensively though and would make us a very dangerous and versatile team in the open court. We'd be able to switch just about everything defensively on the perimeter.

I agree. I think fans will like Jackson a little more than they think. He's got a rare fire about the way he plays. I'm going to do a couple film studies like I've done for Ball on him.

We'd need all the defense we could get with the shooting ability of that lineup. I expect Russell to be a little improved in that area, and honestly I expect Ingram to be quite a bit better, but I'm not counting on Randle being a shooter or if we took Jackson for him to suddenly start making shots. No matter who we take is lacking on one side of the court though, so it's not like I'm advocating for a certain player. Ball and Fultz aren't defenders and Fox isn't a shooter either.

If I'm learning anything from the 2 best teams in the NBA though its probably that skill>"athleticism". Curry, small, skinny, taken 7th, wasn't supposed to be this good. Durant, skinny as hell when drafted, some said his body was gonna hold him back in the NBA. Klay, not LeBron athletically, ridiculously skilled shooter and crafty defender. Green, undersized but all heart. Irving, not the most athletic pg in the league as far as combine measurables, incredibly skilled. Love, never the most athletic, but skilled shooter and passer, and fundamental rebounder. Only LeBron checks the box for athletic freak plus skill.

The key is thinking who do you want on Klay Thompson? Russell or Josh Jackson?

    Russell takes Curry
    JJ takes Klay
    Ingram on KD
    Randle on Dray
    Moz/Zu on Zaza

This is what they call in boxing a punchers chance if our team emerges and takes the next step forward. Remember blowing them out this past year lol.

I'm actually not thinking this way, I'm thinking of how we need to be built once this warriors run is over. No team we can put together is beating them as they are currently constructed if a team LeBron put together can't.

I ain't gonna lie, I don't have the antipathy and disdain for Lavar several posters have. I think he has done a lot of right things as a parent, and his interactions with Lonzo seem to show that his son respects him, and gets his sense of humor and recognizes the belief his father has in him.

He reminds me of a heel manager from professional wrestling, a Jim Cornette or Bobby the Brain Heenan who will say anything to wind up fans and hype up his sons. He talks himself up like Ali (and I know Ali did walk the walk as well as talk the talk), but I am hoping this hype will prove to have helped Lonzo in terms of elevating his profile. I enjoyed his trolling of Stephen A Smith, and to be honest so did Stephen A.

I personally want Lonzo in L.A, and think that Lavar's capacity to add drama and strife to the Lakers is overstated. At the end of the day he is not a player and it is not like we will make him our conditioning trainer or assistant coach. I would say that wives ultimately can impact more on players. I think Lonzo has the talent with a little Magic to grow and run our offense.

Yup. Been trying to watch videos on him to get myself hyped up in case he's the pick, but it's difficult.

What I hear about Jackson is that he's a freak athlete, good wing defender, big competitor, high energy guy, tough, versatile offensively but not particularly good at any one thing. Questions about his shot.

I feel like prospects with those qualities generally have a lower ceiling. They can help a team but in ways that aren't going to be as impactful as the way a dominant guard can affect the game.

Reminds me of what I heard about guys like Michael Kidd Gilchrist, Stanley Johnson, Jaylen Brown. Too early to say for sure how these guys pan out. As of now, they're all looking like solid role players. That's fine. All teams need those. But with the position our franchise is in, I think you have to take a shot at the potentially transcendent player.

:This: I'd also add Justise Winslow to that list of names. Really good players, but not to take with the #2 overall pick.

Lakers watched all this players for at least 2-3 seasons. I refuse to believe one workout (sorry Jah) can eff up your chances of becoming a Laker. So it better be either Fultz or Ball, if not... eff me (you don't draft Darko, when you can still get Wade.) . Great way to start rebuilding under new managament :giggle:

I just thought about it... at worst if Lonzo doesn't develop a great shot, have him bulk up and start driving like a mug lol.

Not confirmed yet, but looking like I may have LaVar Ball on a pod with me tomorrow. Writing up questions to ask now, what would you guys be interested in hearing him talk about?

No way! Ask him if he was the GM, what does he do after drafting Lonzo!

Shooting is key in today's NBA ... Picking Jackson would be a very stupid decision and confirms we are years behind the current reality of the league .

Hopefully this is all smoke and we'll pick Ball as expected
