If we shed the #2 pick, #28 pick, Clarkson, and Tarik Black for Butler while waiving our rights to any of our FAs (Randle, Nwaba, etc) we'd have: 72.78 million or so in salary. That'd leave us roughly 29.2 million.

That would be extremely close to enough money to give Paul George a max contract. We could shed Larry Nance Jr. or Zubac to get there easily.

Or we could just trade away Deng attached to the #28 and/or a future protected pick and keep all our important assets.

It's a subjective rating scale that projects a player's value up through this season (2016-17). A negative score isn't necessarily bad, but max players will be pretty high - say around +8 to +10 for what would be a highly sought after piece for years to come. For now, just understand that the players assessed aren't that great. I'll put in LA's FAs soon enough for comparison.

Zu got too much promise. We all love Nance but for right now I'd bounce him out and draft that stretch four to play PF. Or we can even go with Robinson who could give us some great D and good for pick and rolls/run n gun.

OR, you trade 28 like you said with Deng and try to see if at worst you get a contract back for 5 million so we have enough to re-sign Randle or Nance& a FA stretch four.

Long post about Free Agents - and what they're likely to command in salary. The bold italics is a comparison between similar players last year.

Upper Echelon: MAX+ (Last year, no true FA had a ranking of higher than +12 - Hassan Whiteside)
    Stephen Curry +18
-Curry will get whatever he wants.

    Second Tier
Conley +6 and DeRozan +1 got max.
    Deng +5 and Parsons +4 got 18-24M.

    George Hill +10
    Jeff Teague +6
    Jrue Holiday +6
--Though statistically the best, Hill is the oldest of this bunch. Holiday is the youngest. These three will probably command an average of 20M per season.

    Above Average:
Harrison Barnes +0 and DeRozan +1 got 23-28M.

    Manu Ginobili +5
    Kyle Korver +3
    Andre Iguodala +3
    JJ Redick +1
    Darren Collison 0
    Patty Mills 0
--Ginobili may retire, Korver is 36, AI is 33, and Redick is 32. Mills is often seen as a system product. Collison is probably the best long-term bet here, but he's 29. I wouldn't want to offer anyone in this batch a full length deal, but any of them would be an excellent one or two year purchase. These players will probably command less - say 16-18M per season, but they may earn more with shorter contracts.

    Average Players:
Tyler Johnson, JC, Lee, and Henderson (all -4 to -7) got 9-12M.

    Tony Allen -3
    Shaun Livingston -3
    Derrick Rose -4
    Deron Williams -4
    *Tim Hardaway Jr. -4
    *Kentavious Caldwell-Pope -4
    *Andre Roberson -4
    Jason Terry -5
    Beno Udrih -5
    Ian Clark -6
    *Michael Carter-Williams -6
    Justin Holiday -6
    Jodie Meeks -7
--These players range 25-35. The four most interesting players for longterm deals are restricted (asterisks). Allen or Livingston on a short deal would be a good buy. Clark and Justin Holiday might not be bad options if they're going cheap. Some of these guys would be steals at 12M. Probably all of them would be a good bet on a one year contract, even at a higher rate.

    Low Average Players:
There were massive variations in this group, from Minimum (Sasha Vujacic -8, Isaiah Canaan -13) to Crabbe (-9) at 18m. I hope it's clear that Crabbe was overpaid if he's the player he has shown so far, but even in these cases - those who got paid more tended to be younger with higher upside. No brainer.

Gerald Green -8 (Was a -7 last season)
    *Bobby Brown -9
    Ty Lawson -9
    *Ben McLemore -9
    *Jonathan Simmons -10
    Vince Carter -10
    James Jones -10
    Anthony Morrow -11
    Raymond Felton -11
    Jose Calderon -11
    Ronnie Price -11
    Brandon Jennings -12
    *Trey Burke -12
    Randy Foye -12
    TYLER ENNIS -13
    Shelvin Mack -13
Sasha Vujacic -13 (was a -8 last season)
--These are guys who won't make a difference on your team as starters, but they're good depth if they're healthy. I wouldn't want to luck up any of these players longterm unless I'm convinced they get better or are cheap. Ennis is in that batch. At 2M per season, he's a good pickup. At 3M, I might still do it. Simmons and Price may be the best defenders in the group. Burke and Green might be the best all-around shooters. Ennis, McLemore, and Burke are the youngest. Some of these guys are clearly Vet Min players. The four RFAs have a chance to be wildly overpaid.

    Bottom of Barrel
Four of the seven Guards in this score range last year were out of the league this season. Ian Clark (-15), McCallum (-19) remained at Vet Min. Tim Frazier got 2M per season (he was a player I wanted - because he looked good as a starter; I think he's earned his contract). BTW, Ian Clark bumped up his score from -15 to -6 this season.

Brian Roberts -14 (was a -9 last season)
    Alan Anderson -15
    Sergio Rodriguez -15
    *Ron Baker -15
    Brandon Rush -15
    Alex Toupane -15
    Aaron Brooks -16
    James Young -16
    Norris Cole -17
--Some of these guys have shown all they have. For a Vet Min, any of these guys could work. Young, Toupane, and Baker are the youngest. Roberts is probably the best shooter. Anderson is probably the best defender.

Well, league average for Guard FAs this season is -6.6 on the scale, so there are some good options. I've now posted a full list of all the Guard FAs, along with a financial guide :)

I expect us to be interested in depth at Guard and to be looking more for a big that can start/play heavier minutes.

^^ I am a big fan of Tim Frazier as well. When he had a shot to run the offense last season he did very well. I honestly dont think he was given the opportunity he deserved in New Orleans

    Julius Randle / Nance Jr.
    Zubac / Mozgov

Pretty sure Tarik is locked up too

I don't think we have a starting center on a good team right now unless we upgrade big time at another position. I think Russ will be above average to nearly very good this season. I think BI will be above average to good. JC is bad. Randle should be right around average. That means we need a big bump somewhere. Shooting guard or PG depending where we play DA. And PF or C because we have no combo that gives us shooting and defense.
