    The issue for me is if you keep drafting 2 or 3 players every single year and only playing those guys, you are the Minnesota Timberwolves. Eventually you need to add some established talent, or get value for a pick. I would rather dump Deng or Mozgov's contract than draft another Nance Jr that will have to fight to find time and we have to wait on to develop.

    wonder how brown fooled our scouts. the lakers have been really good in the draft for a long time, imo. they had to feel like brown could REALLY shoot it, as he was a below-average athlete without much room for growth.

    anyway, yes, if i see a three and d wing selected with this pick, i'll be skeptical.

    I won't be. The Lakers had the opportunity to pick Brown with a guaranteed first pick at 27 and just about 95% of the world expected them to. Instead, they picked Nance Jr. (a surprise at the time for everyone) and went with Brown in the 2nd round where they knew he was non-guaranteed and they could drop him if he didn't work out. I don't think Brown fooled anyone. He was a high character, 4-year kid who had enough natural ability to stick if his shooting translated. The shot never got there, so he didn't stick around.

    If the Lakers use this pick on a kid, I'll trust they've seen enough to think he's worth keeping at least a few years, probably longer.

    Exactly. I'm good either way. We trade the 28th pick or if we keep it I have to believe that our scouting team and FO believe that player can be something. Much like the example you gave with Nance at the 27th pick

    Not a bad comparison. He's more nimble than BB and projects as a potential SF/PF defender. @abeer3 came up with Crowder which I think is closer. Sort of Big for a SF with potential as a 3 and D guy.

    yeah, but still the big issue is the mentality there. crowder is all competition, all winning, all the time. it makes up for some clear deficiencies in his game. does ojeleye have that same drive and court sense? feel like i've read the answer is no. if it's yes, by all means, snap him up.

    I think the question is still up in the air a bit. He's not a non-competitor, but I don't know if he has Crowder's heart. That's why I really want to see the guy come in for a workout. He's worked out for the Pacers (18) and Raptors (23). Here's his interviews (I haven't actually listened to them).

    i think he was looking for a first round promise and didn't get one. probably a good decision for him. even if he has a crap year, his measurables will still be there.

    All the reports are he was only given late 1st round guarantees, but he was looking for the lottery. Teams just didn't feel like they had enough information to give him that kind of promise. That tells me he didn't exactly blow them away in interviews either so they weren't comfortable taking a chance.

    I figured that's where he would land. He'd be a big risk. If he has a good year and proves he can hit a jumper, he'll go in the Top 10-15 next year.

    MKG was 6'7. 233 7'0 wingspan 35.5 max vert
