Welcome to the Lakers Tarik Black!! rydjorker121..... seriously on that evaluation?? I think he should do a rewrite on that report. "Doesn't belong in the league" (I think someone said he wrote that?) What a coming out party. This guy is is a force in the "very rough". Athletic, moves well, bodies and blocks out and rim protects. Strong. I think if he was in the Clipper game I might have been dosing, but now that he's got confidence and his mojo going I want to see him on Biff and on Howard. Should be better than Davis because of his strength. A stud rebounder. Goes after it and is one of those guys who will keep it in play tipping it to himself. Not to mention the nice points he put up and solid form at the FT line tonight at least. Sacre just saw his minutes go poof because he can't jump and move like that. Randle and Black and Davis and Kelley not too shabby for our bigs rotation next year even if Kelley is the only 7 footer. Nice to see him stroking it again as well.
Ridiculously great debut tonight. Wow! Nearly a perfect game. Made all his shots, gobbled up the boards and almost made every free throw. Awesome. 14 and 9 in 17 minutes? Crazy.
This guy is maybe raw, but he's strong and athletic. He could be someone in this league if he continues to work hard.
I always like to see these guys 10 or so games in when teams have a chance to scout and take away their weaknesses and then I evaluate. Nevertheless, impressive first outing; let's see how he responds throughout the season...
I love what Rob Sacre brings, but Tarik should be getting all of his minutes now. It's hard to believe this guy is O lyrics 6'9" the way he carries himself. He has a natural feel for help defense and is constantly moving around the basket. Great coming out party. Follow it up against a real front line like the Blazers and maybe we're on to something for the future.
Typing on my phone. Definitely meant "only" but I'm going to leave it as is. I think it gives character.
But I had the same impression, with his physicality, hops, quickness and a lot of strength that's not even coming from fully "mature" big man muscle yet (26-27), he definitely seems bigger when he's out there. LMAO at probably Dwight lobbying for him to go so his fun buddy Josh could come in. Taric was probably a PITA to scrimmage against in practice. I don't think Dwight getting up in years is going to outmuscle him even now. Maybe some but not like he can Davis who just doesn't have it in his back pocket and build. So riddle me this. I think before Randle's injury I was making some good areas of comparison between him and a year older "rookie" Barkley. That amazing 2nd half that Taric put on, I felt like I was watching a very similar to Randle display of even bigger size, with same or close quickness, coordination and strength. Except his arms are even longer on his 1" taller frame and HE can kinda jump like Barkley. Again not hard to think beast physically like Randle but bigger. That right handed hook with elevation he sank had more touch than what Dwight throws up and same with FT stroke. I bet he can develop a nice short J. Especially if someone teaches him the backboard angles. Who is his upside comparison if he were to against odds develop a few offensive skills? Would be the ultimate FU to Dwight if he really does have it between the ears like Randle seems to and work ethic .... What if Kobe helps teach them how a "hungry" and more "svelte", "young" Shaquille O'Neal would bring it back in the day and tell stories. Teach them that same mind set. You know if they are workers which they've both said they are ..... they would listen.
This "O Lyrics" will become a classic phrase. Something like Juggler Knot. We are O Lyrics losing by 5.
Tariq showed a lot of what I saw from him when he played a Kansas and some definite improvement. I liked everything about how he played last night. Hoping he can do that consistently.
Even when they make mistakes I really enjoy seeing our young guys out there developing. Clarkson, Black, and Kelly aren't superstars in the making but they could all become very solid role players. Just wish Randle was out there with them.
Black reminds me of Ronnie Turiaf and DJ Mbenga but more younger and athletic. He has a big body with a defensive mind and most of all, does the dirty work. We need a guy to do all the dirty work.
Black's metrics look pretty interesting. ORtg 117 DRtg 104 That's a 13-point differential. There are only 40 players in the NBA with ORtg 110+ and DRtg 105- (in at least 400 minutes) this season. Here are the bigs with a 13-point differential or greater (in that range): AD, Chandler, Jordan, Zeller, Brandan Wright, Rudy Gobert, Mirotic, Speights, James Johnson, Black (Bismack Biyombo is +11, btw)
