Whatever kinds of game you play, fire away. I started playing AD&D about 25 years ago. I'm a huge fan of pen and paper or table top RPGs, but I don't get to play much any longer. Now I occasionally run a PBTRPG (play by text rpg) with friends from my old college group. I love video games, too, but I don't get much time to play. The big exception is school breaks, so for Xmas I picked up a PS4 and The Evil Within. I just beat it, and I'm curious as to whether other people have played it or have any PS4 suggestions. I enjoyed the game immensely, and it was the most frightening game I've ever played.
I love pen and paper RPGs with friends been playing for many years back when I was in LA, but not so much since I've been in CT. Since moving out here I play Warmachine Tactics and Devinity on the PC with them online. I also love tabletop miniature gaming. I love to paint minis and play Warhammer 40K and Warmachine. Geeky and a s*** ton of fun.
I'm a huger fan of League Of Legends... Very competitive and probably the only game that could truly frustrate me consistently.
I don't play, but my son has every console and the only thing he plays is League of Legends. He's rated in the top 10%. For as much as he plays, he should be top 5. I've watched him a few times. Not sure what the fascination is.
wow that's pretty amazing... Is he going to attempt to join that tournament they hold every so often? lots of money in those tournaments
This is true. I have a friend that was ranked #1 in the world with Zangif in Street Fighter and he made bank with it. You can really make a lot of money playing in tournaments, so if he's going to be playing anyway, your son might as well get something from it @John3:16
He's top 10%, which means about 2 to 3 million people are better than him. LOL. Some colleges are giving scholarships and forming teams. I asked him if he was interested and he said he's not good enough. It's crazy how many people play this game.
Cool stuff on your son @John3:16 . It's a pretty cool accomplishment to be that good at such a popular game. I've never heard of that game though... I had to look it up and I'm thoroughly impressed with those numbers now. I'm under a rock most of the time with games. I'm good at board games! I'm an awesome Stratego player. I've got some good Monopoly strategies. The last video game I played was Last of Us. I have Destiny and I never play it. I have Mortal Kombat which is always classic. I have some of the Wii games for the family kids. Those are always fun. I am absolutely TERRIBLE at any Mario game except Mario 64. I think that's about it for me.
I have not bought either the PS4 or XBO. I still have a 360 and play it some. I usually play RPGs like Skyrim, Fallout, etc. with some COD mixed in. The new COD is really bad. I went back to Black Ops 2.
I play a lot of video games. During the school year, I usually find one or two casual games that I really get into. This last quarter, I pretty much primarily played NBA 2k15 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with my roommates. Then when I'm on break, I like to get into some RPG's or adventure games with a good narrative. Right now, I'm playing Shadow of Mordor. It's fun as hell. It has a similar combat system to Assassin's Creed or the Arkham games, but it's a lot funner when you're beheading orcs lol. I also highly recommend Telltale's Game of Thrones game. It's in episodic format, and only the first episode has come out so far, but it was great. It focuses on a family that's not mentioned in the show, but they interact with some of the main characters in the show and the events from the show are really important. It's from the people who made The Walking Dead games. If you're not into that type of gameplay, you might not enjoy this either, but I still think any hardcore Game of Thrones fan would love it.
That's my favorite game. I have a few strategies I use. I love introducing it to people who have never played. Not very popular and dying off. I can never find it at Toys R Us, but Amazon usually has it.
It's gotten really pricey, but I found it recently at Barnes and Noble. Probably cheaper on Amazon I don't know why I hadn't thought about it. There's also an free online game site that has it so you can play people online. It's a really underrated game I don't know why it's dying off really.
http://www.freeonlinegames.com/game/stratego . I found it a few years back. Not everyone is a master, but there's plenty of good players on there.
Strategos was my favorite game as a kid until I started playing Chess and Risk came out. I'm going to check out that online version for old times sake. Man I had some fun with that game.
If you're into board games and strategy in particular, I'd definitely recommend "Struggle of Empires" and "Twilight Struggle". Both are fantastic and I'm not exagerating. You can look up both here: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/9625/struggle-empires http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12333/twilight-struggle The downside of these games is that both take a really long time to play but I can guarantee a lot of fun. These are some of the newer games, not as classic as stratego so you old farts might not know them . I personally play only Agricola regularly, because it is the only board game I know and really like that can be played on the net. As regards video games, I used to play a lot as a teenager but find it hard to find the time nowadays. I play Age of Wonders 3 from time to time but fighting the computer isn't as fun as playing against a human being and for some reason I can't get my wife to play with me...
Agricola is one of the most popular board games of the past few years, a mix of economy and strategy. The goal is to build the "best" farm, so at the first look it doesn't seem too sexy but it is a very good game and and a lot of fun. You can play it here: http://www.boiteajeux.net/index.php?p=encours It might be difficult to learn this game on the net so if you're interested and have any questions, just send me a PM.
