"Dang.. we're f*****." If we get that top 3 pick I'm on the phone trying to trade it for an established talent seconds later, if I'm Rob and Magic I don't want to wait on any more of these kids to mature, something that with certain games seems will never happen. I don't know if it's millennial syndrome or what, but these kids have the focus of toddlers.
What sucks is offensively, they are all pretty good. I think even average defense all season by these kids and we'd be at 30 wins, easy. I'm not sure if it's as much millennial syndrome as the AAU style of basketball that essentially promotes offensive onslaughts to get into college with no defense. It's common for kids to be bad on defense, but it used to be they wanted to get better at it. Randle, Clarkson and Russell show zero desire to get better on that end.
All great points. I also think there's a Steph Curry effect going on. I'm seeing footage of high school players like the other Ball brothers pulling up not far past half court bombing dumb*** threes, nothing but me me me ball, cherry picking for points, zero f**** given about defense. People can hate on Kobe all they want, but he was maybe the last of a dying breed, and now we're stuck with a new generation of mostly soft NBA players. These damn kids are even starting to make me appreciate the talent of LeBron James, and that pisses me off even more.
The 2nd oldest ball brother thats bout to go to ulca next yr doesnt even go back on D lol, he just waits near half court
I don't know how good he is (or will be), but UCLA has a great group coming in and they doubt Angelo starts. The youngest (Melo) just finished his sophomore year. He might be the best of the 3 (or 4). They say he talks as much as the dad does. Yikes!
I figured the end of the current coup would be more of a talking point. If you haven't clicked on the link: Jim Buss is OUT as any sort of officer for the Lakers. He is still an 11% owner, but he has utterly no decision making ability whatsoever. He is replaced by Janie Buss in the trio of Jeanie, Janie, and Joey Buss who are required by the Trust to keep Jeanie in charge. Jim Buss has not released a statement yet. Johnnie Buss has said that a lot of what has been reported is false, but he's staying as quiet as possible.
Jeanie and Janie went on to gush about each other, but the crux is: the Buss kids in charge feel like this is a done deal and they can move forward in the team's best interest. I'm still not sold on Jeanie, but I'm sold that it's better to have all our parts working towards one goal.
I watched 1 gm of his, he doesnt look like a natural bball player, he has nice shot from 3 range if open, otherwise from what i sae hes just a chucker and cherry picks most of his pts as he doesnt bother getting back on d
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...buss-shares-details-decision-family-franchise Missed this a few days ago. My opinion of Jim Buss only drops further and further. He couldn't get it done on the basketball side, so he wanted to cash out. He wanted to take his ball and go home, the absolute worst kind of loser. Now I know why so many people on tv with inside access to the Lakers in various ways were bashing the man for years and saying we'd never turn things around until he was gone. Good riddance.
I'm pleased and relieved that the Jim Buss saga has ended. I never liked the guy, thought most of the things he said in the press and media were asinine (the public feud with Phil over Bynum's playing time, the statements that any random folks he picked out in a bar could do as good a job discerning talent as pro scouts, etc.). His coaching hires were a flat out disgrace until he finally hit on a winner with Luke. He always struck me as a loser (not a lovable one) and I always felt he was entitled (angling for Jerry West's job out loud) and not the sharpest tool in the shed. He had his timeline and he failed. Jeannie has always been the Buss child that I thought was most like her dad. She's got the business acumen and I believe she has the courage and will to bring back the Lakers' luster. Now she'll have to prove it to us, but I like her moves so far. I think it was smart to bring in Magic and Pelinka. Let them handle the basketball ops and see what we can do.
Keep in mind that the article Weezy posted is mostly sourced from the Jeanie Buss camp. I wouldn't take everything said in the article at face value. The fact that these articles are coming out 2 months after Jim and Mitch were fired seems a bit redundant, so why bring it up?
Maybe if she got in better shape again like her softball years at Stanford. I know I know .... hit me. I deserve it. I blame sirron for what I've become.
