Yeah, seemed like he was running the offense realdeal. The 6 assists and 7 boards were nice! It did seem like he was in the backcourt.

Interesting. I'll take a look. He's profiled as a SF in the NBA. I'm definitely intrigued.

No worries it got confusing because I was on my phone and my fat fingers don't type well on the little thing.

I don't want to give the impression I don't like Markannen. I think he's an interesting prospect. I just don't like players who are one-trick ponies. Right now, he's a scorer and that's basically it. He's big, but not really a rim protector. He doesn't rebound as well as he should for his size. He's made little impression on me as a passer. So the question is: if his scoring doesn't translate well to the NBA level, what else does he do to impact games? He may eventually turn into just a floor spacing big man who you bring off the bench for spacing and a spark. If that's the case, do you want to use a high pick on him? I need to see him in individual workouts and team workouts and in the gym. I need to know him better as a person to see if he wants to be great and wants to improve and all that fun stuff.

Even with the questions I have, he's still on my Top 10 board because a 7 footer who can shoot holds value. I just think with one of the top picks, you want a well rounded prospect. Unless of course you think he's going to score at an elite level in the NBA. If you think he's going to actually be Dirk, then obviously go for it, but I'm not sure I see that out of him.

i'm a big zona fan, and a big dirk fan, and lauri markannen is no dirk. a better jason smith maybe? i don't know; i'm not bullish. but i'm not bullish on any of the draft crop this year. pure probability says one of these guys will be a big star, but i wouldn't at all be surprised if that guy is taken 18th.

I sort of agree. I think the odds are greater that one of those guards hits than one of the big men late, but the difference in talent from 3-30 isn't tremendous to me. Luke Kennard might be just as good as Miles Bridges.

As for Markannen, that's what I'm saying. He's got to show me something in the tourney with some competitive defense for me to be willing to go all in. If he can affect the glass and the defensive end, then I'm all in for the Top 5 picks.

We take tanking to a whole new level.

Hopefully "trust the process" doesn't end up being "F the process".

i think when you shut down your two highest paid players, then bench your best player in order to play your third best player out of position, exacerbating all team weaknesses simultaneously, you've earned a spot in the tanking pantheon. i'm waiting for rob pelinka to run out on the court and hit randle in the leg with a tire iron.

    Classic.

    :Kobe Snickering:

Yes. We're not even subtle about it any more and then say to the Media tanking is not good. Bad environment for young players to be in and the losing mind set it creates.

If it weren't for the extended Laker family I cherish on this board, I wouldn't even be keeping up with this rancid s---show anymore. We are tanking, but our tank isn't even driving in a straight line. We are a tank doing donuts in the middle of the desert.

OK here's the standings of the bottom 5 teams.

    Philadelphia - 24 wins
    Orlando - 24 wins
    Phoenix - 22 wins
    Lakers - 20 wins
    Brooklyn - 12 wins

So it's likely we finish 2nd or 3rd worst. What's our chances of keeping our pick in either scenario?
