Agreed completely. I think there's a pretty powerful story to be told with Superman where you see all the horrible things that surround and isolate him and yet he still does everything he can to help as many people as he can. It preserves him as a symbol to aspire to, but still makes one of the most unrelateable characters approachable.
I think the other thing to think about when it comes to Supes is that he is the only character who "secret identity" isn't his superhero title. He really is superman, and just pretends to be Clark Kent. At the end of the day Ironman is really just Tony, Bats is just Bruce, The Hulk is just Bruce Banner. BUt he is really Superman. Clark is the fake. And that dynamic is a powerful one. He can't go crash on a couch and be Superman, the planet is gone.
That was one of my favorite scenes in Kill Bill 2, when Caradine is just shooting the s*** with a paralyzed Kiddo and he goes on the Superman tangent.
It's at the very end when Beatrix finally finds Bill. Bill shoots her with a paralyzing dart and proceeds to talk to her for a while and he hits on the Superman is really Superman and how Clark Kent is the disguise.
It's hard for the Netflix Marvel series to recapture that magic they had with season 1 of DD. Season 2, JJ, and Luke Cage were good but borderline decent watches. I can hardly remember what happened in those shows.
Dope, again I think that's one of the things that makes Logan great. He is the last one, and the reality of being a mutant is very very hard. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Yeah I think the rating for me goes DD1, DD2, JJ, and LC bringing up the rear. I fear they rushed through IF just to get to Defenders. It sucks for me because IF is one of my absolute favorite characters.
Holy s, that was the cherry on top of that s load f 2nd part. It felt like 2 hours of Tarantino masturabting. More than usual. And love part one.
thats how I felt about hateful 8. It was like a caricature of Tarantino masturbating. And I love love love Tarantino usually.
I think I'll wait to see full reviews before I panic. This is a bad sign, but the show could very well get it's leg. If i remember correctly DD1 really drug for a bit after the first episode before taking off in a major way about episode 7/8. Marvel does not design these shows like normal tv, they do it as 13 hour movie. And the reality is that sometimes you drag at the front end to make the back end that much more meaningful. Look at Breaking Bad, the first season and a half of that is super hard to watch due to its content. But it sets a foundation for the power of things to come. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Maybe it will do a Reverse Luke Cage where the first half of the season was great and then it crapped the bed with the whole Diamondback things and filler episodes.
Good casting! She's a good actress " 'Atlanta' Star Zazie Beetz Cast As Domino In Marvel's 'Deadpool 2' 'Deadpool 2' just got all the better .. All of Atlanta’s stars are rising. Donald Glover is Lando, he’s Simba and he’s in the new Spider-man film. Lakeith Stanfield killed us in Get Out and is going to be in Death Note. Now it seems Brian Tyree Henry will be the last of the cast to get his day in the science-fiction/superhero sun, as it was announced today that Atlanta’s very own Zazie Beetz will be playing Domino in Deadpool 2. The role, which had been rumored to be going to Janelle Monae, is a juicy one. Like Deadpool, Domino was created via a secret government program and is an assassin with a questionable moral compass. A mutant, she possesses the ability to alter the odds of any given situation to be in her favor: essentially, she has an endless supply of super-powered good luck. The character has fought for and against the X-Men and X-Force, and has romantic ties to fellow mutant Cable. The announcement came via Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, who tweeted out the following image today: View image on Twitter Follow Ryan Reynolds ✔@VancityReynolds Domino Effect. 2:15 PM - 9 Mar 2017 Congrats, Zazie — we can’t wait to see you tear up the silver screen! Watched Logan this Friday. I agree with you guys it was great. Probably liked it more than any other xmen movie and I'm a big fan of the series. Maybe I would give First Class a slight edge because of McAvoy and Fassbender's performances in it, but I'm not sure. I will definitely wach it many, mamy times more.
I am 5 episodes in on Iron Fist and it's not nearly as bad as the reviews claim. If you're interested, give it a shot with an open mind. I will say this: the writing is hammy at times and no it's not 100% kung fu action all the time, but the show requires at least a little patience. I'd say it's at least as good as Luke Cage was in terms of overall plot and story. That's not saying much, but it's the truth.
