I can't buy into the tank, so I've been looking at our late 1st or early 2nd. They're so close, that if we keep either one, we're looking at essentially the same players. Dwayne Bacon, Dillon Brooks, Tony Bradley, Thomas Bryant, Caleb Swanigan, and Terrance Ferguson all look interesting.
One guy I like and we wouldn't have to use a pick on is Bryce Alford. He can be a camp invite. I like the scrappiness in him and his great 3 point shooting. He would be a nice weapon to have. Hey we wasted our bench spot on Sacre ... at lease we can have a kid who could be useful in little spurts.
Not sure if he'll go pro but with the Rockets pick or maybe the early 2nd round pick ... USC's Chimezie Metu. He's really made a tremendous leap this season. He's 6'10" and runs the floor really well. Decent rebounder and good weakside shot blocker too. Not sure what his wingspan is but I'm guessing it will measure out at 7'2".
If he is there with the Houston pick, it would be real hard for me to pass on Swanigan. I'd grab a wing player with our second rounder.
I think Swanigan is going to be one of those guys that measures great, works out great, and starts creeping up and ends up a lottery pick. But yeah I wouldn't mind him at all w/Houston's pick. I just don't see him there tho. Would love for him to compete w/Nance Jr for the starting spot at PF. Assuming we trade Randle ...which I'm all for.
that wagner kid's listed at 6'11" 240. interesting... does everyone hate kennard? he seems like an nba player to me. a backup, but a player. or maybe he's coby karl redux. i don't know; it's the late first round.
really different players. though the fear about the three range not translating is probably real. that was kelly's downfall. and anthony brown. wait--forget everything i said. stay away from these fancy pants school players who have reps as college shooters in the late first/second round. it's certain doom!
he looks like a poor man's gordon hayward to me. but for every hayward, there's a luke recker and such.
Wagner kid looks interesting, if he went pro I think he would be around our Houston pick. Assuming we land a top 3 pick, we lose our early 2nd rd pick.
whichever one proved he could hit the nba three consistently in workouts? though i guess anthony brown fooled us before. i'm sure the lakers will take someone totally unexpected with that pick, actually. it seems to be what they like to do there.
