Here's Mike's take. http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/...roblem-mike-dantoni-magic-johnson-kobe-bryant
Maybe Jim's getting back at her and now Magic for her dropping this right before free agency and the hit piece by Ding last free agency. But then you look at it from her side seems she exercised a world of patience with what was going on behind the scenes with the thinking on personnel decisions. If even 1/2 is true as others have said.
Her brother drove Phil off to New York after teasing him with a hire. The lack of proximity eventually drove them apart. She's been against Jim holding the VP B-Ball post since the start. Yeah, she is not a big Jimmy fan right now. I think she might strike a blow at Jim (and John) and Sach (their Lawyer's) very humble and almost apologetic blurbs Ramona tweeted were very back-peddling-ish and apologetic almost. She might have power to remove someone from the board of the trust.
-Jim and Mitch both knew something was either happening or was about to when Magic was announced as "advisor". The writing was on the wall. -Although I'm hoping for success and improvement, how it all went down with Magic being basically shoehorned in, at first saying "I'm only here to help Jim any way I can" while knowing the whole time Jeanie was going to can both him & Mitch.. Very despicable. I've definitely lost some respect for him as he took advantage of a weak and strenuous situation and brokered it to his advantage in a less than magnanimous and honest way. Shameful. -As for Jeanie, the less said the better. Her "pity me" party and act had already worn thin, but now she's been exposed and she has nothing to hide behind now. She always uses the "these were my father's wishes" angle, yet the way in which she's gone about the entire thing is quite frankly childish and has done nothing but sink the team further into the depths.
Jim was never going to step down...what did you think she was gona do? Or would your prefer Jim stay in place forever?
-What did I think she was gonna do? Well for one, maybe act like an adult for a change. Not go and feed Kevin Ding info for his usual smear job articles that made her come out smelling like roses. She's been doing this for years, the old "woe is me" shtick. She did it with Phil in their relationship too, "samey - same". And that's not even mentioning her manipulative and backstabbing ways. -And two, I never said I wanted Jim to continue running anything. I offered that I wish the team better success now with these moves. Yet at the same time, there's ways of doing things, and this was a complete dumpster fire.
Jim current action was going to occur regardless as long as jeannie fired him....bad timing but better than leaving him in office for another season and giving him chance to do more idiotic signings or trades....ding piece is peoples opinion, there's no proof jeannie leaked that stuff to him
-Ding's piece was people's opinion? What about the one before that? Or the one before that? And the timing of each? And the close intimate detail of said articles? Oh boy. OK. I know what I know, we'll just agree to disagree.
Since there's no decent basketball to watch, I think conspiracy theories help fill the time with something exciting. I'm actually just so happy that Jim Buss is gone that I didn't even bother to read the articles with the slander. Jeanie could have been involved, and that would have stunk, but the net result to me is change has been made. The names involved in this change initially appear to be high quality hires. Time will tell if Jeanie is good at her job. Certain excuses have now been removed.
-This is where I'm actually at. Anyone could see that "this" wasn't working and hasn't been, so there's hope and belief again within the organization. That in and of itself is a net positive. -But that doesn't excuse all the petty and juvenile behavior from all parties. My issue is when one of the parties stands back and blatantly denies any wrongdoing when their fingerprints are all over the place. That's the crux of it for me. But like you said, maybe the obstacles are less daunting now.
I guess I just think this was going to end messy no matter what. There was never going to be a way to end this clean. I think that's why the messiness of this whole thing doesn't bother me as much as it probably should. I've had my faults with Jeanie, but it seemed to me that she was going to eventually prevail in this power struggle sooner or later. I think its better to happen now while we are already at the bottom. Clean house, get everything in order, and get back to getting us to contenders.
Buck stops with Jeanie. Seems childish to do preemptive damage control in the press if it was her, but working with family is hard. Dealing with rabid fan perspective while running a multi-billion dollar enterprise while relying on a family member who isn't cutting it is harder. Interesting side note: Kobe kept his mouth shut a LONG Time about Shaq. And after 15 years it's easier for everyone to see the truth about Shaq's immaturity from his action with multiple teams, bridge burning, revisionist history, and even now with the petulant Javale situation. Executives in the world of business that play in the arena of fan approval, social media perspective, sensationalistic journalism, etc, often will have a much shorter leash with which to obtain success. If she contributed to the articles, negative words have been used to describe that already. What I haven't seen are words like media savvy, damage control, preemptive strikes, public support, etc. She could have taken the high road and lost her job as well. She may have opted not to go down with her brother who is not nearly as invested as she is. Jeanie won in the court of public opinion and is a more savvy leader than her brother would ever be as a recluse. She also has the balls to fire him, shut him down with attorneys, and go after temporary restraining orders against the putz. It's kinda hot. ***photoshops a dominatrix with Jeanie's head lol***
These buss kids have totally destroyed Dr. Buss legacy, i wish Silver would step in and force them to sell like he did with clippers
