They can trace it back to Kobe not hiring a brother to be his agent and then no doubt strongly pushing him to Magic if they want to go there. Kobe'd rip em a new one though. Lakers are a softer target for the click bait.
"Kobe is a five time champion. He's an assassin of the highest order." -Stephen A I wanna be an assassin of the highest order.
After the Boron experience I can just imagine the "roll eyes" feeling in all these guys heads right now. Oboy .... heeere's Magic on the plane with you now up close and personal. Hopefully Magic unlike Byron can actually communicate and be a plus in the careers of these young guys. Hard to trust him though when they know he could ship your a** out in an instant for whatever reason or deal brewing at all times.
...the pressure coming on knowing that you're being watched. Either they show Johnson or be scared, shrinking violets. Johnson does not do the drill sergeant act like Scott. I don't think it will faze Ingram or Nance.
LOL Ingram? Hell no .... what him worry? Julius ought to but he might not be "quick" enough to understand the situation. Nance? Hell no!
Good seeing Johnson involved though I just don't want him overstepping his bounds with the coaching staff and the players.
Boron wasn't teaching Showtime, he was teaching half-court Princeton stuff that doesn't work in today's NBA. I am sure Magic is on a similar mindset with Walton's game plan. Further, I don't think he is putting his ideas and concepts forward to Walton as mandatory but more of a "hey take 'em or leave 'em, if it helps great." You can't do Showtime without Magic on court and he knows it. He has certainly seen enough of GSW to grasp what Luke wants to do. We have to keep in mind that a lot of the "crazy" stuff he has said over the years comes from someone that didn't have the benefit of being part of basketball operations and is that of a passionate fan. He will easily be able to delegate with Pelinka, Walton, our scouts and simply the thought of a closing team of Rob Pelinka, Magic Johnson and Luke Walton compared to Mitch and Jim talking about LA weather, Laker heritage, bringing in Jeanie to help and Kobe who was still playing and in "You can be my #2" mode, gets me excited. It's in that position, FA closing, that I see Magic doing the greatest help. He also brings an entirely different image to the club than Jim.
nothing of true substance here and KG is still corny... but it's little surprising to see two guys who I would swear hate the Lakers, speak highly about about our team, Magic and Kobe. If anything this is a little taste of how highly regarded Kobe and Magic are to players, it should bode well for free agents in the future.
