    Mitch did a phenomenal job in reloading around Kobe and getting us back to winning championships post-Shaq. He didn't put together that first three-peat team, that was basically West's work but he kept adding good pieces and kept them in the hunt that whole time. Big time props to Mitch and I'll always be thankful for the job he did here.

    But I think it was indeed time to cut him loose. The timing wasn't pretty but it needed to be done. I'll always remember him turning Kwame Brown into Pau Gasol, getting rid of Brian Cook for Trevor Ariza, pulling in Ron Artest which was essential for us beating the C Bags, and for the great drafting he was in charge of.

    Damn, well said. The "Do It Mitch" got me a little emotional. Mitch has been a Lakers player and been the GM for quite some time. Words at this time can't express what you mean to me and other Lakers fans growing up with the trades and magical powers you possessed. I was always proud to call you my team's GM and your integrity even in the last few days on the job was still golden in not trading the future to just save your job.

    I was absolutely giddy after the Pau trade. I didn't believe it at first. One of my coworkers matter of fact told me the Lakers got Pau. I was like yeah right whatever, then I went on espn.com and I couldn't believe what I saw. It was like floating on a cloud. "We're going to the finals!", I yelled out excitedly when I saw then news on espn.com.
