If we do trade Lou for a 1st-round pick and keep our own Top 3 protected pick, we'll have a ton of assets to work with this summer to improve our roster.
Washington. Utah. Indiana. Doesn't matter to me. Agree that a deal makes too much sense to not happen. I'd be ok with a lottery protected 2017 1st round pick since odds are all 3 would make the playoffs anyways, barring injury.
Yup. That would make Clarkson, Randle, Top 3 and the second 1st more realistic for someone like Jimmy Butler.
That top 3 pick (if we keep it) is not gonna be part of any Butler trade. The hope with a top 3 pick is franchise player, despite our recent success (or lack thereof). No way we give that up for Butler.
Wonder if Utah would part with Rodney Hood for Lou? He's been injured so his stock may be low. Maybe better than a late 1st Round Pick.
In any other draft, sure. But this draft is perceived as not really having that "franchise player" type - as evidenced by the lack of a consensus #1 pick - so the value of it takes a hit. I'm not a fan of trading the Top 3 pick for Butler but I don't really believe that it's so valuable that it absolutely shouldn't be. I'd certainly include it in a deal for George.
Clarkson...Ingram...George...Nance...Zubac/Mozgov (partly). Competent line-up that won't skimp on effort.
As I said in another thread - the 1st round pick for a very solid contributor like Lou is fair, and should be done. Lou can really help a playoff contender and push them over the top, but for all his qualities, he can't help us much at this point.... if at all. The high 1st rounder should be used to bring in a hard-working star who can lead our young guys - those who don't get traded.
Larry isnt trading Paul George to the Lakers for that. Not when he knows he has 200 million he can throw at Paul George. I dont care how much PG wants to play for a winner or come to LA, he isnt turning down 200 million.
I actually think he could trade George to the Lakers for Randle, Clarkson, Top 3 pick and a 2nd first. Especially since I already made that trade idea earlier this morning. Worth pointing is out the Pacers can't offer George that 200+ million dollar contract unless he makes one of the three All-NBA teams this season and I've read articles that indicate that isn't likely.
I would take less to play for the team i want. I would take $150 mil from Nike before i would take $200 mil from UA for example ;-). Ronaldo turned down some crazyyyyy offers from China lately, there's only so much money a one person can spend...
