I'm genuinely concerned. Magic is a smart businessman, but I don't want him making any trades after years of reading his Twitter, anymore than I'd want Kobe making trades.
It remains to be seen how Johnson is on doing player evaluations... I reckon he will be working with Walton and the coaching staff on that aspect. Johnson did not adapt well as a coach so the jury is out how he will do in management. Here's hoping they fill the position with a capable individual.
Jeanie stating that the search for a new GM is well underway and should be named soon. I'm curious to see who we get. We've been down but I have to think there are plenty of people who would love a shot at turning us around.
I don't even... My disgust with this has nothing to with my approval, or lack thereof, of Jim and Mitch's job. This is simply a lousy way to conduct business. But what do privileged punks, of both genders, know about that?
The timing & general clunkiness of this whole crapfest just shines the brightest spotlight on Jeanie's total incompetence. She's appealing to the most ignorant/impatient faction of Laker fans with this moronic bungling of a transition. Now, I don't know if I'm more nervous about not getting a 1st rounder for Lou or flipping our young guys for an overpriced vet like Melo...
Oh, it's coming! You don't make a move like this two days before the trade deadline and not make a move.
Magic coming in is a good thing, magic with final basketball say is a bad thing. I hate to see Mitch go, he has been a fantastic piece of the franchise. Glad Jim is gone... Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I f***ing hope they trade all our yougins for like, Melo and Bargniani... I will f***ing turn my fandom card until the name on the checks is not Buss anymore.
Only thing I can think of was that Black was viewed as a "Mitch Ally" and thus had to be shown the door to prevent any sort of divide moving forward. No way for us to fully know all the nuances of the internal politics of the front office.
As long as Johnson implements the capable people, empowers them and doesn't impede then it will be fine. He had the late, great Dr. Buss as an example even if he is just President of Basketball Operations.
There's no way we trade all our youth for Carmelo. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about not trading Lou for a 1st more than anything else. If we trade a ton of our youngsters for a great player, then... at least we have a great player. I'm worried we're going to sit on Lou Williams and miss the window to get a 1st for him, same for Nick Young.
