I brought up the Jazz a few days ago. Made sense in not only did they need scoring but they are under the cap so they can outright absorb Lou's contract. So the Lakers, in addition that 1st rounder, would get a 7 million dollar trade exception and 7 million in additional cap space this summer.
Any trade that can land a player like Butler, George etc. and doesn't include Russell and Ingram is a huge steal. I would bag Randle, Clarkson and Lou's bags for Butler and drive them personally to the airport and I live in Germany. Russell Jimmy Ingram Nance Zubac thats a nice foundation. Then we can look to get rid of a package around Russell for another bigtime piece and then we have rid ourselves of the chumps. We could also go to the FA market gunning for a guy like Millsap...or even play Deng at PF because he doesn't suck as hard as he does on the wing.
^^^ Eh, that dude totally backed off the Butler stuff, apparently because we are being difficult and won't include Ingram or Russell.
I would include russell if chi takes back deng...it would free up some $ for this summer, maybe entice hayward to come...could allow ingram to come along slower (dont think he'll be rdy next yr either). If we're lucky enough to keep the pick this yr id pkg it with randle for drummond Mid tier pg fa/jc Butler/young Hayward/ingram Nance/some guy Drummond/zu
@ weezy understandable. But honestly, I always thought the C Bags have the best offers to make. They have a buttload of assets. They have a lot of young talented players (Bradley, Rozier, Smart, Brown, Crowder), they have the Nets first round picks in the next 2 drafts (2 potential #1 picks) and they have Isiah Thomas + Al Horford as veteran star players and no radioactive contracts on the roster. They can get anybody in the league to pair with those guys and make a deep run in the post season.
We are crazy if we aren't willing to give up DAR or Ingram for a player like Butler . In a fantasy world we would use one to get Butler and the other to get George Lots of fake rumors and "insiders" though
If the Bulls are trading Butler and pushing for Russell, they are essentially throwing in the towel and rebuilding. As such taking back Deng at his age and salary wouldn't make any sense. This isn't baseball where you have no salary cap and teams can just take on salary if it means getting back better prospects. Plus the Bulls already had Deng and let him leave. Doubt they have any remorse and want him back. This isn't the Lakers and Bazemore or the Sixers and Holiday. That said, I agree with you. I would too.
Id think we can get butler 1st and let this team show some improvements, if we make playoffs and go at least 2nd rd with improvements from ingram, zu maybe just maybe indy keeps being medicore and doesnt get PG help, he would be willing to come here. He has already said hes not signing an ext until he sees Indy get him more help
I agree but the C Bags have been very careful. They clearly don't want to overpay for a star despite their plethora of assets. They played hard ball with that #3 pick last year and ended up keeping it. And now with Butler, there are rumblings they aren't ready to give up that Nets 2017 1st round pick. Assets are nice but when you are a solid playoff team, at some point you need to cash them in to take that next step.
^^^^ Try cheap instead of careful C Bags would already have a great team if it wasn't for Ainge . The best two trades he made were with two ex-C Bags . It makes little sense to keep the draft pick and develop a player when you are in win now mode
Our unmentioned condition to take back one of Deng or Moz is what is putting us out of every deal. Guaranteed. At least when they are pushing for Russell etc, and we come back with "only with Moz or Deng".
His tweet doesn't say Ingram or Russell. It specifically says "Ingram & Russell". There's no way the Lakers FO is going to give up Ingram AND Russell for Butler. That's crazy. Butler is good, but he's not Lebron, Anthony Davis, KD, or Russell Westbrook. He's a 2nd or 3rd star on a championship team.
