Plus Ireland was saying he's heard Cousins is a major bully, like "I'm gonna beat you up" bully, and basically got Stauskas (as one example) out of Sacto. Aside from that apparently a tv reporter in Chicago is saying we're going after Butler.
I've said that I didn't think a deal built around JC/Randle would be enough to net a star. If that somehow lands Jimmy Butler, I'd gladly eat crow because I'd happily be wrong on that sentiment. FWIW Lou, Randle and JC for Butler and MCW does work salary-wise.
Damn, I'd do that in a second, has to be too good to be true. Watch the C Bags come in and finally give up some actual pieces and outbid us.
Interesting. Curious how far the Lakers were willing to go for Cousins in compiling a non-BI package.
I wonder if the Bulls are just using the Lakers as leverage to extract more from Boston. Not likely as the Lakers can offer a solid package for Butler on their own but I'm sure applying pressure on Boston is a nice side-effect.
A starter and 2 bench players for Butler? Sign me up. No brainer IMO. Butler is a top 10 player. Pair him with DAR, Ingram, Zu, and Randle. If you get Ball in the draft, flip DAR for a PF. Back in business.
I really shouldn't even be entertaining this stuff in my brain because it leads to disappointment, but Russ Butler Ingram Nance Jr Black/Zubac I'd watch that.
The question in acquiring Butler is "will he buy off on a Tank?" Losing 2 first round picks to get him isn't worth it, IMO (when added to the 3 players discussed).
The chances of getting our pick this year are slim anyway, screw the tank. If we got Butler we should be about trying to start winning, not tanking for more youth. Aside from that the earliest 1st round pick we can offer in any trade is 2021, I would hope by then we wouldn't value them like we do now, as in it's in the 20's.
