So he admits he has NOT been open to limiting his minutes until now. Well, that's progress I guess. Still shaking my head.

Your signature is missing the complete quote from Byron. I believe the end of it is "And I am going to be the one to kill him."

In the gameday chat on Sunday, we were discussing his assistants. Does anyone know anything about these guys? Are they just yes men for Byron Scott? What do they bring to the table?

This is just... I can't even... We on this board have bean SCREAMING this for a month or more. You take him out at the 8 min mark of the 1st, put him in 8 min mark of the 2nd, repeat for 2nd half, 32 mins. It's not freaking rocket science, I literally said this in a game time chat like a month ago. You can even go further and put him back in the 7th minute mark of the 3rd and 4th and get him down to 30 mins. I'm witg realdeal here in that there has to be something deeper to this, a head coach and a bunch of assistants cannot be stupider than a group of fans on a message board. They watch more tape than we do, they talk to freakin Kobe themselves, they have to know 19 seasons in he cannot play this much.

I actually really upset still with Byron that he thinks 32 mpg if lowering it a enough. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.....

This is what needs to happen (My Ideal Plan):

    - Limit Kobe's minutes to 28 minutes. (7 min/quarter). At worst play him 28-32 minutes, but 28 is where he should be now.
    - Sit him on back to backs, doesnt matter which game (front end or back end). If I had to pick sit him down the first game.
    - Still limit his practices.

Watching that Kings game and how it ended and then the next day listening to John Ireland and Bryan Kaminsky on ESPN 710 unload on Byron this needs to happen ASAP.

I would play Kobe till the 8 minute mark in the 1st quarter, rest him in the 2nd quarter, play him the entire 3rd, and bring him in at the 4 minute mark in the 4th.

    Also minimal practice.

I would still play him in back to back games.

Good news. In a lost season, this is good for Kobe and his health; Credit to Scott for finally doing this and persuading Kobe to rest...

We never had a chance against GSW anyways. Looking forward to seeing Nick going at it.

We all know that he's just resting Kobe this game so he can play him for 48 minutes on Christmas against the Bulls

At the half, Kobe shows up, plays the final 24 and OT (which we lose).

    JK - we won't be within 20.

Byron needs to lay the hammer down like he did with Boozer and Lin when he sent them to the bench, and didn't care if they were unhappy about that. He needs to take the same mentality when it comes to Kobe. I know you can't take the same approach to superstars as you do with normal players, but Byron needs to take a stronger approach. I don't know if Byron is too close to Kobe, but something has to change. If they don't see the positives from this game to make a change, then something is just wrong.

    JC superstar.

Magic is loyal to Byron - nothing is said about him
Byron is loyal to Kobe - Kobe commands the ball and overindulges in moments and coup d'etats the whole 4th quarters of games.

We can recognize that today is how we would like the game to be played. Free agents would also like to see this style of play. It makes our players look valuable and not worthless. I agree with VinMillerHearn24. Byron needs to do the right thing by the Lakers and make sure this play continues. This style of play maximizes our talents and does not diminish Kobe's legacy. This is how we should have been playing all along and hopefully confidence will build. I know Kobe has a greater bball IQ than I do, it is up to him and Byron to act like Spike Lee and "Do the right thing."

This season at least is about building our team from the ground up. Kobe needs to help be the architect, not building himself an Executive bathroom that takes up over half the building. Byron owes it to himself, the Lakers, the fans and Kobe to set him on the right path. I have faith Byron can do it (that sounded wrong when I said that) if he wants to.
