hezonja still looks like he's in over his head in the nba, imo. kinda young gerald green-ish. which actually isn't much different than old gerald green. #hoopiq

as for the orlando/toronto trade: good for both sides. orlando doesn't fall prey to sunk costs, toronto makes a sensible, useful acquisition which they should have an excellent chance at retaining this summer.

i don't feel like the lakers lost out. ibaka is a fifth starter type, and the lakers don't need any more of those, particularly at his likely pricetag this summer. plus, if things don't go well for whatever reason, they can still throw loads of cash at him this summer without having given up a useful player + a 1st.

How so? Ibaka wouldn't want to come here and since he's a FA (I think) he ultimately has a say in where he is traded.

We have the flexibility to bring him in and keep him. He's a perfect fit for this team.

I'm still interested in Hezonja, and if he's available on the cheap, I'd love to grab him. Would be a cushion if/when we move Young/Lou.

Raptors will do everything they can to keep Ibaka this summer, their GM has reportedly wanted him for a long time.

That's a good move for the Raptors. Provides the rim-protection and rebounding Biyombo provided; plus, he gives them much a legitimate 3-point threat. Does this make them better than Cleveland? No, but I clearly solidifies them as the 2nd best team in the East.

Puts the pressure on Boston to make a move.

Lebron is probably in David Griffin's office right now yelling about how the Cavs need another playmaker.

First thing that came to mind... As much as I enjoy seeing James lose in The Finals, being denied in the ECF wouldn't be a bad consolation price.

No more Finals trips for the Cavs please. 1st round flame out is my preferred scenario.

I'd love to see a Miami vs Cleveland 1st round matchup.

The Heat have enough firepower/depth to make it competitive. Too bad about Winslow though.

he doesn't really rebound, and he's not the shotblocker he once was; plus, he can't do much offensively save catch and shoot--and even that's not fantastic. he looks great when playing off great players; i think he'd look bad with this group of lakers.

Ugh, I don't want to see either of Cleveland or Boston in the Finals.

If Lou can facilitate and nice piece coming back from one of those fringe contenders to beat them, that'd be ideal.

    Toronto/Washington/Atlanta, looking at you.

Lou to Toronto for the expiring of Jared Sullinger and their other 2017 1st round pick (they own their own and the Clippers and the worse of the pair is headed to Orlando)

    PG: Lowry/Joseph
    SG: DeRozan/Lou
    SF: Carroll/Powell
    PF: Ibaka/Patterson
    C: Valanciunas/Nogueira

    Solid.

Their Center depth is looking shaky too. They might need Mozgov for the playoff push.

Could use a lil more depth at PG too...could use Calderon for that veteran presence as well.

And Carroll just doesn't provide enough veteran leadership from that SF spot, so they might need Deng too.

I mean, this ship has sailed, so I don't want to spend too much time on it. Still, let me try to make the case for him quickly.

Ibaka finishes well - 91% on dunks, 62% on "close" shots, and 50% on jump shots. Although Randle shoots 95% on dunks, he's at 52% and 44%, respectively. Ibaka works over his opposition at PF, shooting 54% eFG, with 24 points and 10.7 rebounds per 48. Randle's at 19.3 points and 13.7 rebounds in the same time frame. So, we would almost certainly be losing rebounding with Ibaka. We also lose Randle's playmaking. Randle's at 6.8 assist per 48 and a 1.7 ast/to ratio at the PF spot. Ibaka's at only 1.7 and 1:1.

But what we gain is scoring - Ibaka is a MUCH MORE effective scorer - shooting 55% eFG vs. 45% eFG for Randle at the PF spot. His TS% is higher, his PER is 2 points higher, his WS is 4.1 (vs. 0.8), and his VORP is 1.1 vs. 0.5. And, of course, we gain a real defender. Ibaka's holding opposing PFs to 14.3 PER, shooting 49.5% eFG. Randle's allowing a 20.4 PER on 52.8% eFG. Randle's block rate is 0.3. Zero. Point. Three. Ibaka's is 2.6. He's 11th in the league in blocked shots.

With Ibaka and Zubac at the 4 and 5, we'd have a guy who can stretch the defense and a guy who can get surgical in the post. We'd have an active shot blocker and a defensive anchor. Those dudes would block five shots a game.

see I tried to be a lil more logical by throwing in Calderon lol. Deng might have to make us throw in Metta just to chase a ring

The Raptors will be around $130M next year in salary.

They're going to have to move mountains for that to happen.
