Mozgov is about as untradeable as it gets. If the Lakers go with the mentality that they need to trade Moz in order to then sign Larry, then they really aren't signing Larry period.
I think Noah might be the most untradeable. But I think it's all due diligence. But it's not a good look for Moz. I mean benched after 50 games, and looking to possibly bring in a 4th Center. I don't see the need.
Several players are untradeable. Different levels of untradeability still lead to the same conclusion lol
I wonder the Lakers have a real chance of signing him since Sanders currently lives in Los Angeles and comes to watch the Lakers every game. I don't think he wants to leave LA.
Let's say Larry is right in mind and is legit. Lakers have to have something in line to get rid of mosgov, right?
There's a report yesterday that the Lakers are strongly considering trading the vets. I hope Mitch can trade Mozgov.
Can someone please point to another scenario where the Lakers hired a player that no other team wanted (for two years) and where it actually worked out?
Larry Sanders was really good for one or two seasons there, and he's still pretty young. If his head was on straight now, he would be a great addition.
Not necessarily, no. The Lakers could just see an opportunity to buy really low on a 28 year old C who was very solid a few years ago but has fallen off due to injuries/mental issues. Yeah the Lakers don't necessarily need another C - although his skillset isn't redundant at all with any of the incumbent three Centers on the team - and there is a good chance he could amount to nothing.... but it's worth taking a look for the high reward/ low risk. This potential move in no way suggests Mozgov is out the door.
There's a report from a couple days ago that his agent said a he has a offer on the table. I wonder if it's the Lakers. And will we be seeing Larry Sanders in a Laker uniform after the All-Star break? http://www.woelfelspressbox.com/blog-entry/92/agent-says-larry-sanders-has-offer-to-return-to-nba
I disagree. I'd say Deng is untradeable. Moz' contract isn't great, but he's healthy and he's an average C. We could theoretically trade him to the Wizards for an injured Ian Mahinmi and a draft pick. The Wizards get a backup C who can play, and save a little bit of $$. They're already #3 in the east so they don't really need the pick as bad as we do.
Yes to Sanders, absolutely. Low risk. As for Mosgov, we bought a '01 Chevy Cavalier, paid 15k and financed it. I don't see moving him and his contract unless there is an equally nasty piece out there to swap him for like Luol Deng, oh wait he's ours too. That's our FO making a few bad moves rather than make no moves. I have a feeling Magic is going to drive that point home, I mean, who wouldn't in doing an evaluation of our FO's performance in FA?
I meant "untradeable" not in the completely literal sense that the Lakers 100% couldn't trade him but "untradeable" in the sense that the Lakers aren't going to be able to get a return where they actually would trade him. The Lakers could theoretically trade Moz for Mahinmi + draft pick but they wouldn't. Yeah Moz has been unspectacular this season and has been benched, but this is still a guy that the Lakers coveted enough to sign right at the start of free agency because they felt he fit what they were trying to do. I don't think the Lakers are nearly as desperate to unload him as fans are, especially for a currently injured C with the exact same contract. Even if a draft pick was attached to it. If the Lakers wanted Mahinmi, then they would have signed Mahinmi at 12:01am.
If the Lakers knew Zu would be this good, I think they would have signed a guy like Mahinmi. A defensive big who doesn't give much on offense, but a nice vet to bring in case Zu is struggling with fouls or defending P&R.
The Lakers should have signed a guy like Mahinmi to begin with since it made the most sense with the configuration of the lineup. When free agency started, that's the direction I thought they would go - especially when they were initially linked to Whiteside. Not that Whiteside isn't capable on offense but I figured a defensive-minded C would be the route. That's why I thought the most likely options would be guys like Mahinmi, Biyombo, Ezeli. And if we are playing the "what if" game, if the Lakers knew Zu would be this good, I don't think they sign a C to a 4 year 64 million dollar contract period.
