I think we could've handled the situation about how we signed Mozgov better. Fans would've been more understanding if we signed him after missing out on Biyombo, Mahinmi, etc. because it would've given the perception that we tried for other players but failed.

Instead, the actual perception is different. Based on what Romona stated on the article realdeal posted, we jumped to sign him immediately and he was someone that we couldn't afford to miss out on.

I wasn't expecting benching, but his on-the-court production is what I expected.

Who would have predicted that Zubac would be this ready to play though? Hell most of us didn't know who the heck the kid was at all. I thought he would be 2 years away from even getting on the court after seeing him in Summer League. If it wasn't for Zubac's growth, Mozgov is getting the bench minutes right now and still playing roughly 20 minutes a night which would be what I expected.

I would have predicted lower rebounds, but if I thought Moz was going to get 24 minutes a game with the Lakers. I would have predicted about the same. Probably 9, 6.9, 1.
But in his sparingly used minutes, I can't fault Moz for his numbers. For the team make up..he just doesn't fit..and didn't fit. If it's a transition up and down team..why sign Moz? I dunno.I'm not adding much to this topic lol. They needed an athletic, fast, up and down type big man. Like a Dalembert type back in his prime. Ratliff, John Henson type. Brandon Wright type etc.

Well I guess the disagreement is right there.
To those who expected this level of on-court production, you are not disappointed.
To those who expected more, like myself, you are.

In the end, let's just all agree he's not very good and be super glad we have Zubac.

Moz runs great at his size or otherwise. Quicker than Bogut maybe? No problem he or small ball candidates we had and still have related to either for speed and athleticism. See Boom Boom.

I have a dear friend (woman) that accidentally makes up sayings that are hilarious. That has to be one of my favorites.

Another is : Up a creek without a ladder

    So nonsensical it's great.

I think fans in general are famous for being irrational in their expectations. But when you are one of the Golden Franchises, world renowned and loved, and with a list of all time greats a mile long, we can get especially carried away.

I find myself only looking at the bright side when pursuing new players. Ex:

Thoughts that might cross my mind with Mozgov:

He was injured last year, but now he's rested and hungry. He's a champion and will be a respectable vet to lead the youth. VERTICALITY! Now that he'll have a great coach like Luke Walton, he won't be held back like every other team he was on.

Essentially I only expect players we sign to post nothing but career bests once they are sprinkled with Laker fairy dust.

And if they don't post career highs in all major categories, they shall be tarred and dipped in feathers, publicly flogged, their penis size questioned, and finally...crucified.

    Now is this irrational?

Could someone explain to me why Mozgov being paid $64 million for 50 games is considered a OK contract, while Deng, a rotational player, is terrible?

I think I can. Look at the average salaries for players in their positions. Bigs made a ton of money. Wing players didn't. I think I had 12 contracts worse than Mozgov at the C spot, and there were only about 20-30 handed out. I think you'll find that among Fs, it's hard to find many worse than Deng's, and there were a lot more players in that group.

Edit: Deng has also been benched, by the way.

well thats what Luke wanted and now he's changed his tune....why can't you? Never liked him, never liked the contract and certainly dont agree with the notion because he's getting avg money we should expect avg production. 16mill might be avg as far as cba goes and for C but that doesn't mean I should expect what he's given us, you dont accept mediocrity from your 2nd highest paid player regardless of the circumstances.

You didn't give a damn if Luke started Moz, and would deny it mattered AT ALL a week ago, so stop picking a choosing all of a sudden to care about Luke's opinion mattering now.

Glad you have an opinion, but that's all it is.

Also glad you can finally admit a few facts here, like his contract being average. That's progress.

You don't need to like his contract, but you do need to see that everyone that disagrees with you on Moz isn't wrong. I've already explained my thoughts on Moz. I disagree with yours wholeheartedly. You have your opinion, and I have mine.
