They can advocate for the poor and middle class all they want, and I'll point out the hypocrisy of them painting the rich as greedy and evil while being rich, evil and greedy. Fact is she lied on her job application to get a 6 figure job. Just a case of white people ripping off Native Americans. History has a way of repeating itself. But keep believing she cares for the oppressed.... so long as they vote for her.

Someone who fights for the poor doesn't have to stay poor to keep street cred. That's a asinine argument.

And it's also misrepresenting their views. People like Warren and Sanders aren't saying it's bad to be rich. They are saying it's problematic when you have more in more wealth concentrated within a small group of people, but somehow people on the Right are misconstruing that as hypocritical because of what? Your suppose to now take a vow of poverty?!?! lolololol

It's hypocritical because they are the exact people they are supposedly railing against. It's basically the definition of hypocrisy.

No one is saying you must be poor to advocate for the poor, but it's silly to assume they have the best interest of the poor at heart when they're part of the larger system keeping those people from moving forward. It's naive to think they're as altruistic as they campaign to be. Case in point: for all of Bernie's wonderful words, he was quick to back Hillary Clinton who stood for everything he was against.

90% of all the people I know that backed Bernie, ended up voting for Hillary because they thought Trump would be so bad.

I disagree with their conclusions, but I get it. I don't see how I should hold Bernie to a different standard

To me this is making a mountain out of a molehill. In particular, we're going to chastise a man after a lifetime of work, because at the age of 74 and the twilight of his life, he's able to afford several real estate properties, because as a U.S. Congressmen he's been making six figure salary since the 70s? Yea news flash, politicians make good money. That's different then bankers at Goldman Sachs making billions of dollars defrauding people. Bernie was duly elected by the people he serves.

No one is saying these people are perfect, but i'm more inclined to believe in Bernie who's been in the streets being beaten up by police, then someone like Trump or MItt Romney who were both born into tremendous wealth.

It's not the "right" doing it. It's people with common sense and a functional moral compass. Hillary used her position to get favors, kickbacks, etc. That is the very essence of what she was supposedly fighting against. She got massive donations and took huge amounts of money from the Wall Street she was "fighting."

Bernie? Not sure I'd go as far as to call him a hypocrite. A sell-out? Definitely. But he honestly believed in what he was doing before he rolled on his supporters and backed Hillary. Even if you wanted to call him a hypocrite, it really seemed to be an act of hypocrisy as opposed to a lifetime of practicing it like Hillary. I mean, I don't agree with Bernie's positions at all, but I respect him for being principled (well, as principled as a politician can be).

I didn't realize attaching the word "hypocrite" to a Congressman would be so incendiary.

"Hypocrite" and "Congressman" are almost synonyms.

The whole wealth comment by me was secondary to my point about her claiming Native American heritage, but the wealth is definitely part of it.

My issue wasn't that all politicians are hypocritical. That I agree with. (Though some more than others).

What I took issue with is:

    1) John calling Warren whiny for reading a letter on the Senate floor

    2) Him implying that Bernie has no authority to speak on the plight of the working poor because he's able to afford a couple of houses.

But yea, if you and others are saying everyone in life is a hypocrite, no one is perfect and life is about making constant choice between the less of *****er options, than I have no qualms about that.

So you're against her lying on a job application and her heritage to get a 6 figure job teaching one class? If so, we're in agreement on my main point.

I think the Democrats have been objectively whiny in the process of these cabinet picks. They've fought all cabinet picks tooth and nail and in the end, it's for mostly petty reasons. Some of his picks (DeVos hint hint) have been bad, but not all of them.

I don't have a personal beef with Warren any more or less than any other politician because I hate them all equally.

Well no, I disagree with you that that was your main point. And if it was your main point, that issue is debatable. Furthermore, I have greater issue with your secondary points on wealth.

FWIW, I didn't say she was whiny for reading a letter on the Senate floor. I'm not even sure she should've been silenced.

My exact quote was: She's annoying. Such a hypocrite, whining about unfair pay wages while making 6 figures to teach one class, from a job she lied to get (claiming she is Native American).

her speech had nothing to do with unfair pay wages or her stealing a 6 figure job. But I digress.

I disagree, if that was the case why did Elizabeth Warren vote to confirm Ben Carson as HUD secretary? Why did a lot of Democrats vote to confirm Mike Pompeo, man who said Edward Snowden should be killed. Why did Joe Manchin vote in favor of Jeff sessions. Truth is, I think they can fight a lot harder on these picks, but they don't.

I think this is kind of blanket statement in general and I hope you kinda clarify because I don't think your local city council member or county supervisor deserves equal hatred from you (unless they genuinely do). I think some politicians and people who are running for office want to do good.

I didn't realize you were so concerned about my local legislators. You're such a humanitarian.

No I don't hate them, I hate the politicians in Washington DC. I also hate the higher ranking officials of Los Angeles and California respectively. No I don't hate the comptroller of Orange County. I'm glad we could get that cleared up.

And yes they are being petty and ridiculous in their nomination confirmations. http://www.npr.org/2017/02/09/51392...trump-cabinet-still-emptier-than-predecessors

Not sure why you're being sarcastic about it. I was generally curious about it.

My comment was not one that really needed dissecting down to the ground level. I know a couple budding politicians and I can say that there are certainly some that begin in the business trying to affect positive change in their own opinions.

Typically the ones who move up the ladder are the ones who have either compromised their morals to get there or ruthlessly destroy those in their path or in some cases both. The amount of politicians, if you want to count all those ground level people, who are able to affect change without at least one of those two ^ options are few and far between. That especially holds true for the ones at the top of the food chain. It's a ruthless industry filled with people whose best attribute is competitive lying.

Did you really try and pull the gender card and sexist card on me? The same one that declared anyone who didn't support Hillary is sexist? That's pretty flimsy ground to stand on. Also, safe space and snow flake have lost all meaning, especially since the left is trying to appropriate it, but your exclamatory response to a simple offhand remark relays that you might be the one who needs to engage.

And I couldn't care less how much money she makes. She's always been a blowhard and I don't care for, well, any of her opinions.
