If Betsy Devos and Scott Pruitt are any indication of the type of people Donald Trump appoints, it won't be surprising.

While on the campaign trail he gave a list of 20 potential SCOTUS nominees and no one complained (that I know of) and he said the nominee is from that list.

And I agree with you on DeVos.

I would have an easier time believing this line if other countries that actually produced terrorists that attacked the U.S. were on this blacklist: Saudi Arabia (largest exporter of Salafi philosophy), UAE, and Pakistan. Missing from this list also, are Nigeria (HQ for Boko Haram) and Qatar (large financiers of terrorist networks throughout the Arabian peninsula).

Yes, granted Democratic and Republican Presidents going back to Truman have armed and turn a blind eye to the human rights abuses these governments have perpetrated, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Trump left out all the countries where he has direct business ties too.

So why hasn't a country like Canada with open borders been attacked as much as the US?

Because we're seen as an enemy. ISIS was formed in part because the fall of Saddam Hussein, as much as he was a dictator, he was a socialist to many parts of the population in poverty. Not that I agreed with ANYTHING Saddam did, and was happy he was taken from power, but you get a sense of what has been brewing from the people on the fringe.

Now, all we're doing now is breeding more hate our end. Even before Trump was elected President, he was already been seen as an easy target to shove in front of their propaganda.

Even if he prohibits one country from entering, what's to stop them from getting fake documentation for an unbanned country and claimed to be a Christian refugee?

Do I have an answer for this problem? No, or else I wouldn't be sitting here on this forum. But I don't think Trump's order made the situation any better.

Re Spicer again, god I heard him again in my car today and his speaking voice is about as good as Mozgov's rebounding. Really horrible choice for that important position.

I guess in the scheme of things unpopular about Trump's election and actions for those that hate him ..... this is minor. Except it exacerbates all of it every time that voice of his talks to the press.

President Trump, at 9:16 p.m. Monday, announced the firing of the acting attorney general who had defied him on his migrant-travel ban, saying she "has betrayed the Department of Justice."

Here is the text, emailed to reporters:

Statement on the Appointment of Dana Boente as Acting Attorney General

The acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States. This order was approved as to form and legality by the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel.

Ms. Yates is an Obama Administration appointee who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.

It is time to get serious about protecting our country. Calling for tougher vetting for individuals travelling from seven dangerous places is not extreme. It is reasonable and necessary to protect our country.

Tonight, President Trump relieved Ms. Yates of her duties and subsequently named Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve as Acting Attorney General until Senator Jeff Sessions is finally confirmed by the Senate, where he is being wrongly held up by Democrat senators for strictly political reasons.

"I am honored to serve President Trump in this role until Senator Sessions is confirmed. I will defend and enforce the laws of our country to ensure that our people and our nation are protected," said Dana Boente, Acting Attorney General.

Every day is a nuclear bomb! In the old days, we'd still be talking about the killing of TPP from a week ago. That seems like 10 years ago. No way that would make a top 5 headlines of the last week and that was "Yuuuge!"

Btw, has anyone been reminded it's a 90 day long halt? It's not permenant, people are too sensitive and overreact with every single thing, it's disgusting.... give the man time to see what he's gonna do.... it's not a permenant ban, get over it.

To be fair, people freaked out and protested when Obama did it too. Oh wait. Nevermind.

So if I temporarily "halt" you from going to work for 90 days temporarily without pay because you're from America. You wouldn't freak out?

It doesn't affect you, so obviously you're not going to react to it or be sensitive to the topic. There's a word for that...

Does it not concern you that he's doing nothing to the countries that producced terrorist attacks in the US? That isn't some kind of red flag for you?

    That can't be ignored

What president has held Saudi accountable?

Surely not Clinton after Khobar bombing. Not Bush or Obama. And let's not hold our breath on Trump.

None. But you can't give Trump credit for protecting the country from terrorists while not actually doing ANYTHING to the nations that have actually produced people that have attacked us.

Right now Trump is just ineffectively spinning his wheels

First off, I love that meme.

I agree with you. While I might not agree with his course of action, I applaud that he's trying something. Rumor is he got the 7 nations to ban from Obama Admin. (No source, heard on the radio today)

Obama's ban was not on green card holders or refugees who were already vetted. And it was ban on nationals from one country, Iraq, which at the time in 2011 we were still fighting a war in and it was a direct response to a failed terrorist plot by a couple of Iraqi refugees.

And what happened to personal responsibility? Obama is no longer the President anymore, so when bad decisions lead to bad policies, the responsibility belongs to the current President. Trump signed the order. Not sure he read any of it, but he signed it regardless, so now he owns all of it.

^^^ my point had nothing to do with Obama being right or wrong, but the response from Americans and people around the world when he did it. I despised Obama constantly blaming Bush and am really trying not to do the same. Not a case of "well, he did it too." I just see a lot of hypocrisy (both sides) and was pointing it out.

I think most people didn't even realize that he did so, hence no "backlash". Also, I don't think Obama mentioned a persons religion when prioritizing who to allow into the US.

That fact alone is what makes people angry.

No what makes people angry is that Trump is President. And what makes it worse is that the majority of people who use the Internet as a voice are liberal creating a glass chamber where liberal thoughts echo back and forth making people think that's the only way and that there's no other answers. Trump is uncouth, brash, misogynistic, and immature. He's all the things the Internet hates. So now there's millions of people seething on the Internet and every little thing he does is judged poorly no matter what it is.

For instance, he has decided to uphold Obama's Transgender protection EO and there's crickets about that.

Also in regards to Saudi: I do not deny that Trump has ties there... but so does the US in general. Trump reached out to Saudi and (according to him, not them) convinced them to start taking care of more refugees. The angle against Saudi was never going to be a strong fight, it was going to be a discussion. Too much money at stake. I don't necessarily agree with his Muslim ban (the wording specifically is poor), but I do think actions need to be taken. I was all for more stringent vetting of immigrants and refugees from the ME. I'm also in favor of intelligence overhaul as most of the attacks in the US are "homegrown" threats that the FBI has files on, but never does anything about. The immigrant vetting is actually more important in Germany and France anyway.
