Simmons can't shoot outside of 3 feet, but he's special. I haven't seen anyone with that court vision since Magic. I know that's lofty praise.

Why is there talk of potentially trading Lou Williams for more youth. More youth and picks??? That's a big part of the problem now, besides those anemic signings of Mozgov and Deng.

Only out of respect for Lou at his request would I trade him so he doesn't waste his career around these young divas. But otherwise I would not trade him.

What happened to Luke riding the hot hands?

Zu and Lou were willing the team back in the fourth then he throws a cold Randle and Deng in and kills the momentum...

I love Lou but it would be a mistake not to trade him. His value should be quite high right now when you consider his stellar production and his incredibly affordable contract that runs through next season. He'd be an amazing addition to any contender looking for a perennial 6th Man of the Year candidate. It's not so much that the Lakers need more young players but it's that Lou is 30 years old and this team is going nowhere this season. So you're wasting a valuable trade asset. At some point this season, Walton needs to stop committing so many minutes to guys 30+ (yesterday he started 4 of them) and just focus on the youth because that's what is going to get this team out of the whole. This team is going to be a contender because guys like Randle, Russell, Ingram, Zubac take the next step. Not because they held onto Lou Williams.

As far as draft picks, the Lakers need them. The Lakers could lose their 2017 and 2019 1st rounders if they fall outside the Top 3 this year. The draft is the cheapest way to add talent and the Lakers are going to need cheap talent given how much Deng/Moz/Clarkson are earning the next 3 seasons and that Randle is a FA after next season and Russell/Nance/Zubac the season after that. Plus clearly free agency isn't working out that well for the Lakers and the new CBA only makes it harder to lure top notch talent away.

If the Lakers can turn Lou into a 1st round pick, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Plus we'd be doing Lou a favor and moving him to a better team. The guy is in his 12th season and has made the 2nd round of the playoffs once.

But without Lou, we'd have a terrible record this year.

It's not like he's a vital difference maker if we still suck this bad. IMHO he is a tradeable asset.

In fact, he can mess up the tank if he decides to go off; he needs to go.

I was finally hoping to not care about college basketball, guess I was wrong. I'm really not looking forward to scouting these draft picks.... and then ultimately seeing two of them go to Philly.

Even with the "rebuilding, youth" excuse, this stat should be more than enough to justify replacing mitch and jim

EddieEddie, I appreciate the reasoning. But I still see that as movement to more youth. We are just copying Philly at this point. Can't wait for new management.
