F*** Ainge, I'm done with the guy. We gave him a good offer (Ramona supports the Hill/1st offer) and he screwed us by giving Rondo to a Western Conference team that can re-sign him. We're not getting Rondo and Ainge wanted to be sure of it. Let him have Green.

^Agreed. On another note; Offer the 1st for Wilson Chandler to Denver. He's having a great year. Move Wes to the bench

In hate the C Bags, but honestly, would any of us be happy if we made a trade that helped Boston? Ainge would never help us on purpose.

Trading Rondo here, clearly would have helped us (if Rondo stayed healthy)

Look at the bright side, we may very well have just dodged a bullet. Watch Dallas paper him up for the next 4-5 years of injury-plauged ball. Like PJ said, trades need to be judged on 4-5 years basis. Let's get some good young stars in here.

I get it, but I'm going to reciprocate it. F*** Ainge forever and the management over there should feel the same.

Durant, Davis, seriously? Is it that hard to look around the NBA and find some people that could be acquired in the next few years?

Yes. Why would Durant come here to a rebuilding team? Davis won't be available for another six years at least. I've spent hours trying to figure out which players the Lakers could shoot for that would get them back into a competitive team and I don't see any young stars that the Lakers can acquire.

Their best chance now is maybe Dragic/Monroe this summer. And that's not good enough to put us over the top.

Why would Shaq come over to a team with no other star in 96? Davis' contract is up after next season. If OKC keeps coming up short look for KD to get it done elsewhere. The Lakers could put together a good supporting roster in the season or so. Are you considering the new CBA after next season? It's going to increase salary maxs to a level a lot of teams won't like and make LAL an attractive destination again. Not that it would effect a guy like Durant, but players look at how we take care of our own like Kobe in his elder years.

Bummer. I was warming up to the Rondo thing big time. Dallas looks pretty damn good right now. The west is more stacked than ever.

I understand everything you said but why would Durant leave a competitive team for a rebuilding team if there's no indication of increased production? Shaq joined Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel and a young top draft pick in Kobe Bryant. We have Randle but what else after that? What do we have to interest Durant on a basketball level? Financially we have a lot to offer but does Durant need any help financially? Not really, he just signed a ridiculous shoe deal to go along with everything else he has with him. LA will make a great offer but the only way to convince him to sign here is with a competitive roster. If we strike out on free agents again this summer we have zero chance at a competitive roster when Durant becomes available.

And Davis' contract is certainly not up next season. He'll be in New Orleans for a long time. I think you meant Durant.

And again this summer there's no real "young stars" that the Lakers can just go sign. And if we fail this summer where does that leave us?

Holding out for guys like Durant and Davis isnt a strategy its basically a hope and a prayer.

Like him or not, Rondo was one of a handful of guys we could realistically target in free agency. I am not sure of how large a blow it is to our offseason strategy but it is a blow.

Rondo was one of the few good players we actually had a chance of getting. What star caliber player is on the list that would actually come here? Gasol, Love, LA, they are all in a better situation than if they came here.
I hope management goes after the 2nd tier players, players like Dragic, Lance, Monroe, etc.

The league's new TV deal hits in '16 and the cap is projected to be 80-90. It's why LeBron wouldn't sign more than 2 years with CLV. Most teams do not like that increase (OKC would be one of those). Could you imagine the cap space we'd have in '16 with Kobe's 25mil off the books and an 85 mil cap even after giving Durant a max deal? No Big Market team in the NBA will be in that position and don't think Mitch and Jim aren't looking towards it. With a little clever planning some very good role players could be brought in with that enormous cap space. *Maybe" Randle beasts it next year. Hopefully he grows a little and strengthens up and we end up with a cheap awesome PF.

Things always look grim in a rebuild but it doesn't mean we absolutely had to have Rondo. He'd help us out for a few years sure, but we wouldn't be looking at getting back on top with him either. Not next year either when he and Kobe would be eating around $50 mil of the cap before the cap increases even. That's just reality right now. At best, things are a 2-3 year plan and likely longer. Rondo'd be with us for years at likely max $ until he's 34 and who knows how his body would hold up. We'd be right back in the situation we are in now in 3-4 years instead of rebuilding all that time. That's just my viewpoint on it, I'd rather build than blow it now, we have to deal with the contract we gave Kobe and FO is just trying to make us somewhat competitive during Kobe's last 2 seasons. I can see why they pursued Rondo and tried but I'm ok that we missed out on him.

These shoe deals for super stars have incentive based bonuses that moving to a big market kicks up. There is financial incentive for a move to LA for KD, endorsement deals in the land of TV, film and TV guest appearances to feed the ego too. Don't have to mention quality of life, all these guys live in LA or spend time in LA the summer.Davis' contract cannot be extended until next summer. It's up after the 15-16 season though technically the 16-17 season as far as being an unrestricted FA . He would be a RA in '16. so he's more of a 3 year target.

If we aren't able to sign a significant piece this summer because there aren't many available then it makes it even more important that we keep our pick this year. Whether we draft someone with it or use it in a trade the pick would be a major asset, which is something the Lakers are seriously lacking. Hoping for some good luck with the ping pong balls. At this point we are long overdue for something, anything to work out for us.

As for the Rondo deal, I'm not convinced he's a max player, and at his age he isn't the future star the Lakers need. Might have dodged a bullet.

Dragic is the better option going forward anyway. We lose the lottery pick to Phoenix then we swoop in to get the Dragon:devil:

Of course Danny Ainge helping another C bag get a chance to win his 2nd NBA Championship as a head coach. It's a trend. Kevin McHale helped Ainge by giving them Kevin Garnett when Lakers had a better deal. Now it's Ainge's turn to help another C bag, Rick Carlisle.
