We should have built a bigger in the 2nd quarter but couldn't take much advantage from the Blazers struggles.

The 2nd half was the Mavs 2nd half all over again .

 

I don't know what it is but it seems when the team can't score, it affects everything else they do both offensively and defensively. It's like they sort of give up on both ends of the floor, which leads to them not running the offense not trusting each other.
And btw what the hell was Russell thinking setting off Lillard like that?

We can't win with both Julius and Russell putting up stinkers like last night.

Did you watch the game? It was all Lillard. Besides, what is it? Get scared and don't hold your own out of fear that a "leopard might fall out"? Lillard is not Kobe, and even then Kobe would be the first to tell you that he'd respect you more if you didn't back down, as opposed to show him the out-of-fear respect.

Also, up to that point Lillard was 0 - 6 or some such. He'd go bananas in the 4th even if Russell agreed to vax his shoes instead of confronting him.

 

Lillard is full of it. In the incident leading to the altercation, Russell was standing talking to Tariq or TRob, and Lillard bumped him from behind.

I'll rewatch it later, but this is what I recall.

Hmm, interesting how folks have different takes on that altercation. Look at 0:44 and how they bump shoulders and how much Lillard's shoulder moves opposed to Russell.



Remember that this out of bounds play came right after Russell blocked Lillard's shot. And Lillard was struggling (1-10 up to this point) with his shooting. So whether the shoulder bump was intentional or not, Lillard, given his reaction, clearly thought it was a message of "I can stop you."

 

I agree. Did not see that angle last night, personally. Russ was minding his own business talking or something with Julius. Lillard is the one that bumped and then got in Russ's face. Russ was just manning up and not backing down. But maybe Russ said, "Yo mama" or something.

 

This is a non issue if it wasn't DAR involved.

 

Well that's one way of looking at it. At any rate, what matters is how our team, and one of our best players in Russell, reacted to adversity.

 

All I know is Kobe would have dropped 50 and locked down Lillard.
