Spoiler: Spoiler for episode 1 I was thinking I was bored with the first episode, until the middle where OA starts telling her story and the credits and theme music started to roll, and then I was like "oh, so this is like the real beginning of the show?". I loved that. They totally were thinking out of the box in how they handled that and it sold me immediately.
Started Colony, up to ep 4. Really good sci-fi show. Way better than than some of the regurgitated dystopian movies out there.
I'm watching OA a second time, this time with the wife, and I believe that The Colony's second season starts on January 20th.
Just finished The OA. That just might be one of my favorite stories ever told. Different, unique, and yet somehow completely and utterly relatable. The show somehow keeps me guessing and the ending is so out of left field it hits home right away.
Just finished the OA and it was fantastic. One of the best Netflix shows out of a ton of really good shows. One thing I didn't catch though. Why did she want everyone to call her the OA?
Spoiler Honestly, I am unsure, and that's what's great. They could go super reductive - so no magic at all; that would be the hardest sell. They could go for understated, keep us guessing, which is what I hope they do. Or they could go over the top with the magic stuff. It would be hard to pull off, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. I think that we see the Angel Hunter come after them, and I think one of them is going to die. This is in part because I'm wondering whether the previous group of Angels was at least partially prophetic and the characters sort of line up somehow (Scott/Steve, Homer/French, Black-haired girl or Renata/Buck, and then it's unclear. But I think that either BBA or the moppy-haired kid is going to die, because the fifth last time was the dead girl in the bathtub. I'm really enjoying trying to figure out wtf is going on in this show. You?
My latest binge on Netflix is The Killing. It was originally on regular TV, but when the series was cancelled by AMC after season 2, Netflix picked it up and produced the final 2 seasons. I just finished season 1 and it is a great drama. Season 1 and 2 are about a high school girl who gets killed and the investigation into her murder. Lots of twists and turns. Superb acting. Lots of characters intertwined, but never confusing. Highly recommended!!! 8.2 on IMDB.
I watched season 1 when it initially ran. Was really good, and both principal actors have gone on to do some good work otherwise, too.
Watched the entire season of OA this weekend after the rave reviews on here. I really enjoyed it as well. Very original, compelling, and thought provoking. Definitely messed with your emotions in the sense of not knowing what to believe, even at the very end. I hope there is a season 2. Looking to start watching Colony this week
I stayed up all night binging on season 2 of The Killing. I can't believe I never heard of this show before now. I was blown away. Drama / investigation type movies are my favorite genre, so I may be biased. The acting is phenomenal. The layered story is a perfect blend to keep it fresh. I can't recommend this series strongly enough.
