Few things, forget about how many bullets were pumped into the guy. We're trained to keep firing until the threat stops, so be that 2 bullets, or 10, it dont matter. we don't shoot two and stop and pray that the threat stops, it just doesn't work that way.

Problem is, where was the threat to life? I didn't see it, therefore, you don't shoot the guy. You either chase his a** down, let him run away and tow his bike or car or whatever and cite him later, or tase him...

There was deliberation and intent, of course, when you're shooting someone, you don't raise, aim and pull the trigger to shoot them accidentally. Problem you run into there, defense can easily defend that... His intention was to stop the (perceived) threat, not kill the man in cold blood... Do you see the LEGAL problem? It's imperfect, but it's just almost impossible to actually without a shadow of doubt, prove murder....

And don't expect many cops to render aid after they've shot a suspect... If they have some sort of medical background and know what they're doing, sure they can do it at their leisure. But most of us aren't certified to be medics in anyway, we learn basic CPR and that's it. We've had an officer involved shooting here in town, lemme run it down how it works...

    - Guy gets shot.
    - Cops make sure there are no other threats.
    - Cuff guy, for safety reasons. (injured parties can still grab a gun and shoot someone)
    - get medics started, let everyone know shots were fired.
    - if you're confident with whatever medical treatments you know, do em, if not, standby and wait for medics...

And she was the one that called the police because the neighbor choked her 7 year old kid for littering. The neighbor that choked him is just standing there in the background.

Does anyone really think this cop would have done the same thing if the neighbor was black, and choked a 7 year old white boy, and his white mother called the cops on him? This is why so many black people mistrust and hate the police. This kind of thing can't be tolerated and defended. It is about race.

If a grown man choked my 7 year old I don't think I'd be calling the cops. That's one of those instances I'd have to handle myself.

She called him. The white man choked her black son. He ignored that and questioned her about how she's raising her son and why did he litter. Then when she justifiably (IMO) becomes upset he arrests her.

I don't see how this is anything but racism on his part.

That's not a satisfactory answer, just because you cant positively identify why he was a jerk to her, doesn't mean the default answer is racism. That is a poor answer and def not a way to get rid of racism, if that's the end goal.

He was a jerk, no doubt... but I need a specific phrase or word that he used to racially suggest something, or that supports the claim of racism... not some vague interpretation of his words.... did he call the boy black? The n word? Did he say you blacks? Anything regarding race?

I don't mean to be hostile, but again; a claim of racism has been made, yet I see or hear nothing that is remotely racist in the video

This is ridiculous. You're setting a standard that nothing short of a stereotypical KKK member would meet, in order to come to the conclusion that an incident was due to racism and that is not realistic or how you evaluate anything else in life.

If you see a man convulsing on the ground and foaming at the mouth, are you skeptical that he's having a seizure, or do you make the judgement that he's actually having a seizure right then and there due to all of the evidence right in front of you?

If someone wearing shades with a cane bumps into you, do you question that they are blind, or do you wait for them to declare they are blind before you believe it? No, you make the determination on what is most likely.

Heck, as a cop, if you see a guy wearing the local gang colors head to toe, and rag in his back pocket, and he shoots somebody, do you need him to claim the gang out loud before you make the determination that he's a gangster from that set, or do you make the determination from all of the evidence?

No, you make the judgement on what's most likely, without the need for the most extreme evidence like calling someone a n***** to determine racism. No one requires this standard be met to come to any other conclusion in daily life.

In that video, the default answer isn't racism, the overwhelmingly likely answer is racism due to the evidence John mentioned. So why would you want to try to find another answer instead of the one that's right in front of you, and more likely than anything else... unless it's your own predetermined bias against labeling ANY incident racist?

My thing is this, nothing in that video suggested anything racially driven... You can't just say "oh it must be racism there's no other explanation" Just because it's a white cop dealing with a black citizen. Making a claim like that is racist in of itself because you're making assumptions based on race....

What evidence are you talking about that was presented?

I just don't agree with your guys' assessment of the incident. It's dangerous to say it's racist without concrete evidence that it was indeed that. Statements like that is what keeps racism alive, and creates a dangerous precedent because anytime a white cop deals with a black citizen poorly, people will automatically think like that.... Instead of some other possible reasons....... Cop was having a bad day? Maybe he's got personal issues at home? Allowed citizen to push his buttons and react? He's a stupid cop? He's just an A-Hole? And many other possibilities.. And yes, perhaps he's racist? But I wouldn't say for a fact it was that, or even go for that first... Anyways about the incident, his agency is involved with national initiative along with my dept. He's in big trouble because they're receiving training on Procedueral Justice which is supposed to be the complete opposite of how he handled this situation and would've had a complete opposite outcome...

There's no defending what he did. He's an idiot and made us all look bad. But to go for the racist claim, that's pre-mature.

    Be careful @davriver209

    http://kfor.com/2016/12/30/black-lives-matter-stockton-defending-disgusting-prank-pulled-on-officer/

A police department in California was forced to investigate a rumor that one of its officers was targeted by disgusting prank.

The Stockton Police Department, Corruption Reporting Page on Facebook posted a photo of a man and his family with a message that said, "We are happy to report that today this officer from the Stockton Police Department got to have coffee at Starbucks...served with a side of spit. They even gave it to him with a smile and a nice comment."

On Wednesday night, the Stockton Police Department was called to investigate the incident at the Starbucks. A police spokesperson told FOX 40 that they found no evidence that an employee spit in the officer's coffee.

Starbucks also denied the allegation, saying, "We are proud of our relationship with the Stockton Police Department, who initially notified us of this rumor. We can confirm there is absolutely no truth to this post, and we are disappointed with the suggestion."

However, the Black Lives Matter Stockton chapter says an anonymous barista spit in the coffee because she was upset about a situation with a family member and that officer. The group also told FOX 40 that a diner in Stockton does the same thing, adding that members of the local media also should be cautious where they buy food.

You can only come to that conclusion if you don't think racism is a big problem in this country (which defies every aspect of this country's history). Racism is much more likely than any other explanation after seeing that video.

On the contrary to what you're saying, you allow racism to continue when it's right in front of your face and you refuse to acknowledge it.

    That's terrible.

I hate how stupid people will blame all cops for the racism of a few. Still, cops need to clean their own house, or this s*** will continue.

If you haven't viewed the video of 4 teens in Chicago kidnapping and beating a low functioning teen, well... consider yourself lucky. It's disgusting.

I'll just say I'm happy the police caught them so quickly and the kid is in the hospital recovering, although I don't think he'll ever get over the trauma associated with being kidnapped and beaten while someone live streams it on FaceBook.

    Good job Chicago Police Department.

I hadn't either. Then again it's Chicago and the news refuses to cover it.

I finally read about the incident, but I didn't watch the video. I don't think I can handle it.

What a sick group of kids.
