For a young team it's probably important to keep them hungry even if you're using stats/rankings/articles as bulletin board material for motivation.

Any salary cap gurus on this board? Bc I honestly don't think we need to land a big FA. If these guys improve together year by year, it is a complete roster. What will it look like when all of their rookie contracts are up?

Not the cleanest win but I'll take it considering who we are playing the next couple games. But hey, we are 4-1 at home so anything can happen.

Really liked that we weren't super reliant on the bench for the win, the starters for the most part got it done.

Also good to see Ingram finishing the game.

We'll have enough money to add a solid player, but as of right now we don't have enough for a full, 10-year max contract.

Assuming we keep all our guaranteed deals, let Calderon expire, Young opts out of his last year, we keep Marcelo, and cap holds leave us at: 77.38 million.

The cap is expected to be at 102 million next summer. That'd leave us with 24.62 million.

    Max contracts will be roughly:
    0-6 years: 24.5 million
    7-9 years: 29 million
    10+ years: 34.5 million

Waiving or trading Deng or Mozgov would get us over 40 million.

It would be perfect to get one top tier FA. It might not be next summer - maybe the following. But if we could add just one superstar I think it could take us to contention level. It would probably still take us a couple/few years to actually get there but we'd be reloaded.

Just curious, how come the Trailblazers and Jazz are ranked higher than us? What's the tie-breaker? We have better everything than the Jazz.

Many people were projecting the Jazz to be the 4 seed in the west. They have an extremely deep bench, and they have been missing their two best players this year. (Favors has been on a heavy minutes limit). Blazers have the 2nd best back-court in the league and also are extremely deep at 3 through 5. Both teams will be very solid west playoff teams, so they are getting the benefit of the doubt in the rankings.

A month ago, who would have thought we would be #5 in the west with the tough schedule we've had.

I should have been clearer. Why are they above us in the standings?
