Seems like they play him for most of first quarter, let him rest all the way until halfway second, then finish the half. Almost same deal for second half.

Lakers Under Belief Kobe Won't Sign Another Deal After Two-Year Extension Expires
    Dec 08, 2014 12:39 PM EST
    [IMG]

The Los Angeles Lakers are under the belief that Kobe Bryant almost certainly will not sign another contract once his current two-year extension is over.

"All indications are, to me, from him, that this (two-year contract) is going to be it," Mitch Kupchak said. "If somebody's thinking of buying a ticket three years from now to see Kobe play, I would not do that. Don't wait. Do it this year."

Bryant has reportedly left open the possibility of signing another deal in 2016. He is nearing Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring leaders.

"When he does pass it," Kupchak said, "it's a testimony to consistency and playing at a high level for a long time. I think that's nice, but I think we all know that he would trade that for a team that competes for the playoffs or a championship."

I wouldn't come back either to drag through a 3rd season with this crap team.

Now if we have a contender built, I don't see him walking away so easy, granted he's still healthy from having Byron run him into the ground.

Translation: Please keep buying our tickets even though we stink. Could be your last chance to see Kobe play!

That's what I see from that quote as well. The FO has definitely thrown in the towel this year. They are just going to milk the Kobe last pony show.

FWIW that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm going to see Kobe play again this year, and I'll keep hoping that he comes around again. I held off on buying tickets last year because I wasn't hopeful he'd be available when LA came to Orlando. Turned out I was right.

It's not a bad thing for either party, but it's clear that the team is giving up on the season right? Everything they say these days is about Kobe. "Come watch him play in the next two seasons before it's too late!" "Kobe is about to pass Jordan on the All-Time list!" "Kobe is averaging 27 points this season as a 39 year old!"

It's all Kobe. That's fine, he's our only truly marketable asset right now. But to me that just reeks of covering up the fact we're 5-13 and likely headed for another 5-13 after that.

Man it's been downright painful watching Kobe struggle so much this year to score ordinarily easy buckets, but this 36 year-old, back from blowing his Achilles and knee, is about to become the 3rd all time scorer while leading the league in scoring. Wow... Relentless...

I thought Kobe played a good game for the most part. His shooting really took a hit because of that first quarter when he went 3/10. Teams weren't even attempting to guard Ronnie Price. Lol. The offense was really ugly, and if it weren't for that quarter (and stupid lineup), Kobe would have had an efficient game.

Byron shouldn't need more games to realize it won't work, but it looks like we're going to have to put up with this for 15-20 games.

Give him much more minutes with Young and Lin. Play Wes at the 4 with Davis at the 5 and surround him with the best shooters on the team. These are things Scott can do and it will almost certainly lead to a significant increase in efficiency...instead he's doing the absolute worse thing by playing him with Price/Hill/Wes. Teams are literally completely ignoring Price. Its mindblowing how Scott can't see this. The guy is totally clueless.

He shouldn't start Kobe at PG, I'd rather start him at SF along with Elington and Lin for some floor spacing. I have no confidence in Wes

I get he wants to tank, but come up with aplan that tanks AND saves Kobe from excessive wear and tear.

That's not going to happen. Byron can't coach without an aging superstar...
