Agree with Broussard here. Much rather be where the Lakers are with so young talent with three or four potential All Stars and an excellent young head coach than be a treadmill team like the Grizzlies, Knicks, or Hawks.

What they fail to mention: asset(s) to trade for another impact piece (if we want to go in that direction), and a max spot next year.

Broussard got his opinions from most excellent sources?

...vote for max spot next year. If Walton has his druthers, he'd want to re-establish that winning culture by developing the young core. Use that as bait for an impact free agent to lead or augment the team. My guess it will be a mid-tier talent.

PS: I loved watching Ingram guard harden! I was fired up. Love that walton subbed him in so quick. First guy off the bench I believe.

ESPN has lost a LOT of talent in recent years.

Love this and couldn't agree more. And yes, they did even forget to mention that we have that max slot going forward. Nice to see some national folks get behind us and feel the way we feel.

If they play the way they did last night...notch wins at a reasonable rate given our youth and make up or make the elites sweat there will be a groundswell of positive opinion. It's only one game so I'm trying to temper my expectations but I like our chances with the coaching staff assembled. Walton was even out there protesting that missed backcourt violation and called strategic time outs. Shaw also was engaged as to what was going on.

ugh, schedule unkind early--on the road against 4 consecutive presumptive playoff teams (utah, okc, indy, atl). i guess i knew that already, but still...

a split would be awesome. getting one and not getting embarrassed in any of them would be progress. tonight will be a really tough one. home opener for utah, coming off a loss.

Whatever happens I'm happy to say I'm looking forward to each game. I really am. It's an 82 game schedule and I'm geeked up for every single one of them. Couldn't say that the last two years when I just couldn't wait for the season to end.
