    I can never understand why this has to be the case with internships.

    Not necessarily, I interned for graphics for a couple of years while not going to college. You can get college course credit, but it's not required.

    while this might be true in other cases, these specific internships do state that you must be a "College student; must receive course credit"

    Hey guys, I double checked and we do indeed require that your internship count for college credit. We have had a number of interns go on to have positions with our site. Corey Hansford, one of our Senior Editors, started as an intern. So did Dan Duangdao, our former Editor in Chief. I highly recommend applying if you are interested.
