    Tri.
    Islam isn't a race.

President Carter wouldn't allow Muslims into America and he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

And, FWIW, he said keep them out until they can be properly vetted. That's smart of anyone trying to enter our country.

Oh yeah, Obama has also said they'll be vetted. So they're in agreement. Or Obama is "racist."

Well, John, let me ask you this then - will they be removed from said database upon being allowed entry? If the answer is yes, we can find a common ground here. This would be an immigration policy, disturbing, but somewhat understandable.

If the answer is no - this is a digital age yellow badge.

    As for this:

So did Yasser Arafat. And he was a terrorist.

^^^ I would hope so, but feeling the way I do about our government, I doubt it. This is the same group who was supposed to deport 800 last month and gave citizenship instead.

I hope we are giving them a bunch of cash and a house to at least get them started. And maybe a job equivalent to having a degree in college.

Well, the kid above doesn't need it. All he needs to do is to find his Kid Lennon, Kid Harrison and Kid Starr.

    Thanks for posting that Azndude.

I didn't know that about Senator Byrd, and that makes me feel a lot better about Hillary's association and praise for him.

I understand Islam isn't a race, but the majority of people who practice Islam are of a certain race, and the idea of database is absolutely discriminatory, especially when Trump's "database" included US citizens as well.

I don't mind those coming in being "vetted", as that should be expected of anyone of any race or religion coming into the country.

I think we're on the same page. Any database Trump is proposing already exists.

    For sure.

I'm sure a database exists for everyone, especially those on a terror watch page, whether identified as Muslim or not.

But the way Trump insinuated his proposal had a more undermining, profiling tone that obviously sounds more discriminatory, and that's why he gets the crap that he gets. Yes, he's rarely politically correct, and America has softened it's stance on being PC, but when politicians in his own Republican party have to take a step back and question what comes out of his mouth, it doesn't really help his case of not being the person that he is.

^^^ I'm a Republican, but won't vote for Trump. But...... we keep saying we need a non-politician. Here he is, warts and all. Perfect? Far from it. But when both sides hate him, it makes me ask why. It's gotta be more than his anti-PC nonsense he spews.

I think he's more a threat to the establishment than people realize.

Well that's because there's only one thing Trump looks out, Trump. He doesn't care about lobbying, he doesn't care about other companies trying to belittle their way out of taxes, all he wants is what's best for himself. Is it different than the everyday, most likely corrupt, status quo politician aka Clinton? Some people think so. But I also think some people would rather fall in line with the status quo and vote for that person because they don't care as much.

The anti-establishment president we needed was Bernie, even if he was a democratic socialist, HE was what the government feared most.

^^ I wasn't voting for Bernie, but respected him...... until he sold out and endorsed the one who screwed him over. Similarly, I respected Cruz for showing up at the Republican Convention and refusing to endorse Trump. He caved in the end, but I respected him for sticking to his guns.

Any opinions on the latest Gary Johnson gaffe where he couldn't name a foreign leader? I've got crowds now mudslinging me, even though I'm trying to convince them like dude everyone gaffes every now and then; it's the policies that count.

If Clinton gaffed, I'm sure it's because she "wasn't feeling well" or whatever. Just like when she said Sanders supporters live in their parents' basements. "She's right, nothing wrong with saying that!" Imagine if Trump said that about Sanders supporters LOL.

To be honest, Gary Johnson isn't a great candidate. He has a 0.000000000000000001% chance of winning. Voting for him is really about voting against both major parties. It's a protest vote more than a serious attempt to get him into office. Gary Johnson would probably not make a much better president than the other two to be honest, but at least you'd know where he stands, and we would have some sort of idea of who is leading the country. The other two candidates are being controlled by someone or have their own interests and legacies in mind with every decision they make.

Either of the Pauls would have been a better Libertarian candidate. I might write one of them in.

You don't see how sighing and essentially saying that my opinion may not even be worthy of a response can come across as dismissive?

I think most of the examples you posted are exaggerated or out of his control, and that Hillary has had similar gaffes that could be spun as racist.

I'm probably voting for Gary Johnson. Not because I think he'd be great, but because it's my protest against the big 2 parties.

Instead of arguing against who is the worst, we need to join together and send a message. 3rd party or don't vote (if you agree with that approach). Some how, some way, we need change from current Ds and Rs.

Please specify which of the examples are exaggerated (which aren't for that matter), and please provide me examples of Hillary Clinton being racist, in which she didn't later apologize for and/or continued to double down on. And me spending the time posting the articles and then having this back and forth with you means that your question was worthy of a response.

At the time I said that you were dismissive, you hadn't yet responded to my point other than "sigh". To be clear, I'm not trying to say that I'm offended or anything like that. Just making a point that it seems like anything that is remotely pro-Trump gets oversimplified as bigotry.

I feel like I can't even criticize Hillary in person. When I'm online and anonymous, I can express my frustrations about her. But if I'm at work or with a group of friends who only casually follow politics, if you say anything against Hillary that means you must be a Trump supporter. And if you're a Trump supporter, you must be a racist.

That's why I don't like when people pull the "Trump's a racist" card. There are certainly elements of truth to it. But that line of attack is mainly used to silence legitimate dissent against Hillary.

To the rest of your post, you can call me a hypocrite (you'd probably be right) but I'm just not going to do it. I don't care enough about this election anymore and I just started a new job with crazy hours. I honestly don't want to spend what little free time I have researching points for an online argument that won't get anywhere and would be peripheral to my main argument anyways (which is, as John said, that both of them suck and we shouldn't have to be in this position as voters). I'm already annoyed enough at myself for writing this response when I should be sleeping.
