I just saw this rumor on my facebook feed. Um, can someone tell me why we are trying to get ANOTHER SF? I'd like to see Ingram play some minutes!
yes please. Rudy Gay is a hell of a player and play maker. Another good veteran for our squad if this was true.
You all know how much I hate Lou (as a player), but we only got two NBA backup guards right now. So we trade one for a sf that MAY play some minutes at the 4? This has to be a rumor made up for page hits...throw the Lakers in.
Well first of Ingram can play sg and Rudy would be an excellent player to have backing up Deng. Druss/Calderon/huertas Jc/Ingram/brown Deng/Gay/Ingram/Artest Randle/Larry/Deng/Yi/Robinson Mozgov/Yi/Zubac/black This team has a lot of depth ....its all about chemistry.
It's a good trade for us, but I don't see where we can play Ingram unless he isn't expected to play much this season.
I read the article, it was just someone from another Lakers forum/site like ours who suggested it because Rudy was on the block and it "worked in ESPN trade machine." Nothing more than a newbie posting in the Unsubstantiated Trade Suggestions Thread for us. As much as I would like to get rid of Young and take Gay's talent, we're already stacked in the front court and Lou is one of our premier scorers off the bench at the 1-2.
it seems like they're going the patient route with ingram instead of rushing him, which i'm fine with although that's just too many SF's for one team if they were to acquire gay. i'd prefer to keep williams at this point
Why would we do that? If we did, what's the purpose of signing Luol Deng unless you're planning on sliding him to the 4 full-time? And why would you do that when you have Julius, Nance, and Black. Makes no sense.
Because if we made that trade and played both Gay and Deng together we could give opposing teams Deng-Gay fever!
i think gay has become a bit underrated over time, but at this stage, i'd opt to cut young and keep williams over this trade. they'd need to add a 1st or something.
He told the Kings he was opting out next year, so essentially he's a talented large expiring contract. I guarantee they won't have to include a first rounder to trade him.
I remember this idea popped up earlier in the off-season and I wouldn't have an issue with it. I think Ingram can play the 2/3. Gay and Deng can play the 3/4. I think there's enough playing time to go around if the trade got rid of Lou and Young. And more importantly I think Gay is very underrated and would simply make us a better team next year even if it (very slightly) delays Ingram's development. I don't see it happening though.
Not sure where this particular rumor came from, but there are sites out there who browse message boards and post the trades listed there as "rumors" because it can get a lot of hits and dupe people. That said, Kings fans would not be happy with a deal like this, and I can't see why SAC would do it, especially when contracts are factored in.
hmmm...i feel differently than others. williams is an effective player, perhaps as effective as gay. expiring contracts aren't worth much anymore, and everyone knows sac needs to trade him. maybe they don't give up a first, but young doesn't make enough money for me to bother with a gay/williams swap, especially considering the positional redundancy discussed above.
