Oh, and one other thing above, sirron ..... I was talking with Tarik the other day ;) and he wants to know why he was the guy picked for the old Fat Shaq gif face this year. He's not happy with you. Even less than just seeing Yi now also signed.

^...when local pro athletes donate their time to assist with local charities and whatnot, it is a testament to their character. Kudos to Ingram and Zu.

Oh SNAP!!! I had never seen this photo. Now I understand why it was so easy and simple to tease Kenzo with that.

That account of Zu working out with Bertka has a bit of nostalgia to it. He's been around since the Showtime days and good to read that he is still active in the Laker organization. He was Riley's trusted assistant during his time here. What have always amazed me when Abdul-Jabbar used it, he was not prone to getting stripped by defenses when he went into his motion. If Zu develops that shot and gains confidence, it won't be just his pet move but the one he will rely on more often.

Wow Bill has been around forever. Must just be a great human being and part of the Lakers organization for as long as he wants to be since he still has all that knowledge. Like Tex with Phil. Well Bill was there too.

Zu sounds 180 degrees different than Bynum, but maybe that's Luke with the positive atmosphere for the young guys vs Phil not being big on young players except they play exactly like he wanted them to. I mean of course. Rings talk. All that time though Drew was being privately tutored by Kareem and he should have been able to do the sky hook reasonable justice. But he would never shoot it in games. Joe McKnight came to USC as a running back just a couple years later after Bynum was drafted in 2005. He and Drew seemingly were friends and Joe it was known and confirmed hung out on Clublakers under a name we knew. One night during the season I asked him to ask Drew why he never tried the skyhook which he had been working on in practice. Joe says OK I'll ask and comes back an hour or so later and says Drew said that if he tried one in a game and missed it that Phil would make him run laps the next practice.

Phil was not huge on respecting the Lakers greats that were still around. Jerry West, most unfortunately.

I heard that Bynum skyhook story too. The irony of all that is that Abdul-Jabbar became one of Jackson's assistants. Preseason can't arrive fast enough...

Fran talks a little bit about everything from Ingram, Zubac, Randle, Yi, and more.
